Funny and heartwarming but must be gripping

My attention span isn't great blush I usually like thrillers but I am after something a bit happier.
I loved ps I love you but I've not read anything like it since. I tend to stick to the same genre and need a change.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Carter Beats the Devil - by Glen David Gould, I think. Long but meets your criteria, I couldn't put it down.
