Book challenge in 2015?

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 30/11/2014 08:22

Anyone interested? I spend far too much time faffing about on my phone rather than reading & I need a bit of a push to get back into it.

Anyone care to join me?

Hi, I am part of a book club, we read one book a month. Our next one is Red Joan by Jennie Rooney. I'm not sure its my cup of tea but we'll see.

I'd be interested. What kind of things do you like to read?

I'll join in. My tastes are pretty eclectic but I am not keen on historical fiction. I do prefer 'genre' fiction to 'literary'. I also like to read a fair amount of non- fiction.

I felt the same as you this time last year so I joined the 50 Books for 2014 group and my motivation for reading books and putting down my phone has improved hugely. There'll be a new thread for 2015 in a few weeks time and all new posters are welcome Smile

Yes, I'll be on the new 2015 thread. I've been a bit slow this year - normally read at least a 150 per year, but I discovered Twitter this year and have wasted too much time on there, as well as having been ill a lot too. I'll probably have managed 135 by the time New Year's Eve arrives, and next year I am going to try for 150 and stop dithering around online so much.

I will be doing the 2015 challenge too. I seldom post on the current challenge thread, but have enjoyed a lot of the books reviewed/recommended on there. Currently on number 86 and want to get to 90 by the end of the year.

I'll be there too Smile. Aiming for around 100 books in 2015, and also keeping track on Goodreads with their annual book challenge.

50 Book Challenge threads are great. I read 51 books in 2013 and actually decided to read less this year and focus more on work, but ended up reading more instead - I'm on book #59 now Grin

I lurk on the 50 book challenge thread for the awesome recommendations. I have discovered some of my favourite books of the year via tat thread, I would never have found them otherwise. I intend to join the 2015 thread, but I'm not very good at posting regularly.

I will be joining the 2015 thread. I had a very good January this year then real life got in the way. I think I did make the 50 but only just

Count me in. Followed the 2014 threads and got some good recommendations off there. Also just joined GoodReads to keep track of books I have read as kept getting ones out of the library and then realising I had read on my kindle or vice versa !

I'll join too. However with DS2 due January will be aiming low this year. Maybe 20?

I'd like to join, I've been following the 50 book thread for the last couple of years and my 'to read' list has grown considerably! 50 is quite ambitious for me but will give it a go, if I read 30 I'll be happy.

I fell off the 50 book thread this year. Life got in the way and by September I'd only read about 25 books and realised I wasn't going to get close to 50.
I fully intend to re-focus myself for 2015 and manage at least 50. Smile

I will also join on the new thread. This year has been great, 72 books so far and I have loved reading recommendations and reviews on the current 2014 thread. Next year I aim to read 100 (moved house this year which got in the way for a few months).

I would just be happy to read a book a month! And discover some new authors.

Ooh congratulations Rhys and Ellis. Kindle is so much easier for reading and feeding especially the lit ones for night time.

I have a kindle but the original one. It's still going strong unfortunately as would really like a paperwhite but can't justify buying one when mine is still working Smile

I think I'd like to join the 50 book challenge :) I work in a library so there's always heaps of stuff I want to read!

I have tried keeping track on goodreads but it just didn't 'work' for me IYSWIM so will give the thread a try :)

I'm reading a non-fiction ATM so that's going much slower but determined to finish by new year.

Report
Galaxymum · 07/12/2014 21:12

I haven't done very well on the reading challenge this year and not finished a lot of books.

I'm thinking of doing a re-read challenge for next year, and re-discover books I have read a while ago. I'm hoping it will spur on my reading. I recently re-read My Dear I Wanted to Tell You when it was the centenary of the start of WWI and really enjoyed it. I started the year re-reading Pride and Prejudice and enjoyed it in a different way from when I studied it. Now re-reading a bit of Christmas chic lit but planning on re-reading A Christmas Carol in Christmas week.
