I've just read Us by David Nicholls and I liked it.

Please can someone recommend a similar read?
I'm currently studying for a post-grad so I'd like my hobby read to be something that isn't taxing or harrowing.
I usually read a lot but most of my current reading is for research, all suggestions gratefully received.

Anything by Nick Hornby - and he's got a new one out this week.

Jonathan Coe is also very readable and good fun. I love The Rotters Club.

You might also enjoy books by Carol Shields and Alison Lurie - they both write literary fiction that is engrossing but rarely harrowing and occasionally funny.

Oh, and how could I forget Elinor Lipman? Light, comic, usually slightly romantic literary fiction - honestly, she is the absolutely perfect light read. Try The Inn at Lake Devine, but she's written loads.

Yes I'd clocked the Nick Hornby one and it's on my list but it's not out until Thursday and I wanted to start something now!

I read The Rotters Club a while ago.

I'll look at Carol Shields, Alison Lurie and Elinor Lipman, also Emily Barr.

Thank you, keep 'em coming please Smile

KitchenWitch have you tried The Abstinence Teacher by Tom Perrotta?
Addition by Toni Jordan? Fall Girl by Toni Jordan?
This Book Will Save Your Life by A.M. Homes?

It's been a while since I read them but I remember them being similar in style and good.
I'll think of some more.
