Some well known titles are currently available free on Kindle:

Stella Rimington - The Geneva Trap
Jeffrey Archer- Only Time Will Tell
Harlan Coben - The Woods
David Nicholls - Starter For Ten
Jill Mansell - The One You Really Want

Just downloaded them all for nothing!!

Thank you for the links!

Do you know anything about these books?

I've seen the film of Starter for Ten, about a boy in the 80s going to university and wanting to go on University Challenge.

Anyone have any hints as to the others?

Oh, and David Nicholls is the one who wrote One Day, isn't he?

Harlan Coben writes crime books that my mum likes.

I'm not familiar with any of the title, just recognise the author's names.

I've read David Nicholls' One Day, which I thought was okay but a bit over hyped. I have read some Coben before and enjoyed those.

Worth giving them a go for free though!

And This one by Robin Hobb is also free at the moment. Don't know anything about it, but have heard of Robin Hobb, and have taken a chance, as it's free :)

And also "bought" the David Nicholls one Starter for Ten. Didn't much like One Day, but this one might be better.

That Robin Hobb book is very good (if you like fantasy) - they are clearly trying to get you hooked on the series. That series is one of my all time favourites.

Thanks, have downloaded a couple of those

How do you find the "proper" books that are free? Whenever I have tried to look I've just come up against a wall of shite looking and probably self published erotica and trash

There are people who know on the Amazon Discussion Forum - I look there, and EreaderIQ which lists all the book deals as price drops, 99p deals and freebies.

Tsukuru - I'm with you on that one! Am finding it hard to unearth gems among the shite.l..

So thanks for the links guys...have downloaded all those. I've had my kindle a week....and wonder how I haven't stumbled on those free titles yet....obviously a trick to finding the good stuff

I was just about to post about these and you've told me about a few more. Thanks. I wonder what this is about as it's rare to get this many known authors for free? I saw them on the bestsellers free list on my kindle Tsukuru.
