Start using Mumsnet PremiumWhat to read after Darkmans?
(2 Posts)Just got 100 or so pages to go of Darkmans, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It is definitely right up my street, book-wise, and I need something lined up for when I finish it in the next few days.
So, I love Darkmans, and I've also enjoyed books like The Gargoyle, and I've read several Chuck Palhniuk books. I think the kind of thing I like is something quite surreal, but also quite realistic? But, with a bit of a cool edge. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance
You may like Little, Big, by John Crowley. It is enormous (as big as Darkmans) and is kind of about fairies but also about family and other stuff.
Alternatively The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers gave me a kind of Darkmans vibe...
