(3 Posts)I like a quick, fast-paced read. Last book I read til the end was 50 shades of grey over 2 years ago!
I do like a bit of 'romance' etc but it has to be realistic and un-hammy.
The only authors that I can remember whose books I used to read are Penny Vincenzi, Jill Mansell, Wendy Holden and Jane Green (although I tried, I just couldn't get into her last book and never finished it). I also loved Siri Hudsvedt's 'what I loved' and I really enjoyed 'we need to talk about Kevin' but I guess they aren't really holiday reads?
I did like 50 shades but it got too hammy for me and far-fetched.
I realise I am asking quite a big question but any suggestions would be most welcome!
Thanks.
Marian Keyes and Adele Parkes
It is difficult to choose, isn't it? These are the novels I have read recently:
The Vacationers by Emma Straub is an interesting one - American family dynamics in hot Mallorca
The Atlas of Us by Tracy Buchanan is out on 31 July. A couple of different stories come together and it is set in amazing locations around the world
I recently read and liked The Affair by Gill Paul - which absolutely transported me to Rome and the dolce vita of the 60s and the making of the film Cleopatra and lots about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Hope you find something you like!!
