I just bought a stack of books (over 10) and did a like for like comparison: over 23.00 from Amazon and just over 18.00 from Abe.

Does anyone know: How does the ownership pan out in reality? Is there a difference in how much sellers keep of the revenue?

I don't know how it pans out, I thought it might be relevant for the tax thing mostly.

Best place to check for book prices online is bookbutler. It searches Abe and Amazon and many others.

So Abe books and Book depository are both owned by Amazon. i used to go through them thinking I was sticking it to the man.

The Book Depository is usually cheaper than Amazon, does free postage on everything and carries a much longer chain of less popular books, so helps to keep books in print longer.

I have as bad an Amazon-habit as the next person for non-books and for Kindle stuff, but I nearly always get my books from the Book Depository now. I'm a real fan.

Book depository is owned by Amazon? I didn't know that, oh misinformed me. Gah, they really own everything don't they?
