(36 Posts)I've just finished The voices by f. R. Tallis. It was a bit meh....it had a few good chills but to be honest it just didn't deliver the goods
Does anyone out there in MN world have any suggestions? Ideally I want a book(s) that is going to scare the living bejesus out of me :-)
Please and thank you
Sorry about the please and thank you thing, I was having a Miranda Hart moment.....
Ania Ahlborn ? She has written 4 books, all reasonable on Kindle and v v scary. I'd start with Seed, her first one. It's great ! Also Adam Neville is good.
Brian Keene ? All good but he has written a zombie trilogy that I loved
Richard Laymon excellent too. Can you tell I love horror
Jonathan Aycliffe is great, very scary...
Thanks, some great suggestions
I'm now going to look online to see if I can get any of them. I have a nook rather than a kindle but I'm sure I'll be able to find them on the Barnes and Nobel site.
Agirlcalledsandoz, i read some Richard laymon a few years ago and really enjoyed them but for some reason I completely forgot about him :-/
Second the Jonathan Aycliffe suggestion. Just don't bother with his latest, Silence of Ghosts, as it's not nearly as good as his older novels. I'd start with Naomi's Room.
Naomi's Room was very creepy!
He's great but I've read them all now
I got Naomi's room and heart shaped box by Joe Hill (SKs son) :-) I'm going to start with Naomi's room tonight.
I'd love anymore suggestions as I tend to get through 8-9 books a month!
NOS4R2 by Joe King is excellent - his best
Yeah I've heard of that. Will definitely give it a go.
Pretty much anything by Dean Koontz. Too many to name - but I love them. My teenagers do too.
I've always loved dean koontz. I think he's got a new one coming out soon :-)
OK. I love horror and the scariest book I have read is The Absence by Bill Hussey. It makes me feel I'll recounting that tale.
Also Seed Ania Ahlborn.
Ooohhh, I'll look for the absence :-) I may never sleep again but that's ok, apparently sleep's for wimps (and people with no kids).
Feel ill I meant! Please do get the absence. Folks rate Through a glass darkly, by Hussey but it was the absense that left me troubled. It was just so, real and surreal at the same time.

Just remembered the supernatural series by Stephen Leather, with detective Joe nightingale. It wasn't scary exactly but engrossing. You must read them in order though.http://www.amazon.co.uk/NIGHTFALL-Jack-Nightingale-Supernatural-Thriller/dp/1444700642

Damn
Sorry, don't know why tablets doing this! Lastly I suggest Joe Hill, Stephen Kings son. Again not scary like The Absence but engrossing. I loved Heart Shaped Box
