i've just finished Longbourn I dont usually read Jane Austen-related books as I'd fear being dissapointed . But Longbourn was really great , - not about the Bennett sisters and the others (they feature of course , but only in small ways ) but the servants and their lives ..

I loved light between the oceans too.
What I really like about reading on the kindle is that recommendations are made based on your reading history. This has opened my eyes to some books I might have not chosen in a normal real life library. Not that I have stopped using the library.
It might be worth asking in your library if they have lists of suggested authors for different genres. Hampshire libraries have them available.

The Rosie Project and Life After Life, both great. Just reading Lonbourn now and loving it.

If you like something lighter, I loved Here's Looking at You by Mhairi McFarlane - funny!

I loved the good father!

It's an oldie, but water for elephants was a stunning read.

I'm saving The Night Circus for a rainy day!

I am tempted by the new Khalid Hosseini book, his other 2 books were fantastic.
There is a book called The bookseller of Kabul which is also a great read if you liked his other books.

Just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn which I can heartily recommend. I also second the vote for Apple tree yard by Louise Doughty, a really good book and both MN recommendations.

I've just finished The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and it was fantastic. In fact I've started rereading it immediately, which I never do these days, but I just couldn't bear for it to be over and nothing else I started grabbed me.

Will check out the ideas on this thread :)
