They were discussing this on Woman's Hour today, and it intrigued me. It's being touted as a more realistic Gone Girl-type psychological thriller. I downloaded it this afternoon (less than four quid, not bad) and have just finished. Brilliant, really well-written and convincing.

The rather sad postscript to this first novel's success is that the author died shortly before publication. Do look out for it, and catch the radio 4 piece about it on iplayer if you can.

I did catch it on R4 and it sounded like a very intriguing book. Wife does little things, like secretly removes pivotal key from keyring as punishment for husband's adulterous behaviour...and more... The book has been out since June so it is interesting that publicity is only just now revving up.... Glad the author got to hear how well it was doing before she died.

It's not really plot-driven in the way that Gone Girl is- it is really a chilling character study, and not just the characters of the people, but the character of their marriage, and how it moves through love to toxic destruction. Thriller isn't quite the right word to describe it, but it is a dark look at how your best qualities can spiral into huge flaws that might bring about your downfall.

Will download asap, thanks. I loathed gone girl but for a quid I'll risk itGrin

Just finished it. Quite enjoyed it - I found parts of it quite gripping.
