(3 Posts)Have just finished reading this, by Abigail Tarttelin and really enjoyed it. A very unusual and intriguing plot, I've never read anything like it before. I would recommend. One note of caution, there is an upsetting and graphic rape scene which some may find upsetting.
I wish this book had come with a warning about the graphic assault that occurs very early on in the story. It took me by surprise and I actually put the book down after that chapter, unsure if I wanted to carry on reading. I did eventually finish the book but did flick through most chapters as I just wanted to know how it ended rather than wanting to get really stuck into the story. The way the narrative was shared among lots of characters was interesting and worked well. The subject is quite specific and not one that a lot of people can relate to and although it is generally an interesting topic for discussion, I think it could have been dealt with just as well without the assault. Bit too graphic for my liking.
I found this book really intriguing. It took me a while to get into the book, but once I did I couldn't put it down. I really liked the short chapters, being a busy working mummy meant I could easily read a whole chapter at a time. I also liked how the chapters were split by the characters in the book. It's not like any book I have read before but found it an interesting read.
