(15 Posts)I just read this- has anyone else? It's really gripping and you can sense that the author understands mental health problems. I would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who likes psychological drama/thrillers, with a hint of country bourgeois too. But what I wondered is what anyone else made of Cass's husband. Won't put spoiler here but would love to hear anyone else's view!
I've read it too and thought it was brilliant. I love the unreliable narrator and not being able to be sure about any of the other characters because everyone is seen through her eyes. I don't think I can say more without spoiling it for others!
I have just started reading this today!
It's really good! I just don't like one thing to do with the portrayal of her husband. Won't say more though as it would be v easy to spoil this one...
Am over half way through and got book on strength of this thread. Very gripped so far
Yay! I always look for recommendations here too...

Have you read ' just what kind of a mother are you? '
I think that could be your thing too if you liked this. I'm starting it next but the sample I read was gripping
Thanks, just downloaded and read sample- will buy it as I've enjoyed the sample.
I also liked Emily Barr, The Sleeper and Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach (Deborah's daughter!)
Well I've finished it and I'm pretty sure who the baddie was .... Err I think!
I'm dying to discuss this so will mention a SPOILER IN THE NEXT MESSAGE
So - it was the husband yes? Hiding bits and slaying chickens etc. and all the rest.
SPOILER
I thought Ellie did all that..? The question is, why her husband semi colluded with her... His story definitely isn't coherent, as he claims he's trying to save her from Ellie but is prepared to section her rather than expose Ellie!
Loved this book, so thought provoking...

Hmm - you don't think he was playing both of them? I think he planted her glasses in the bedroom and slayed the chicken and hid her car keys and took the knife . Err I think ?
Also why was Cass never referred to by name for the first half of the book?
