Start using Mumsnet Premiumkindle holiday reads please?
(9 Posts)recommendations anyone? Most popular on kindle is often cheap chicklit ...would prefer to get stuck into a decent novel, thriller etc.
I've just finished reading The War of the Worlds by H G Wells - it's free on kindle, and an excellent read. Can't get better than that
A lot of the classics are either free or really cheap for collections.
Other recent good reads for me have been Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel (an easier and more enjoyable read than I thought it would be), The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters, Tigers in Red Weather by Liza Klaussmann, The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman, This Is How It Ends by Kathleen MacMahon, The Innocents by Francesca Segal, Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, Pear Shaped by Stella Newman (surprisingly good for chick-lit).
Hope there's something there you like?
a room with a view
I usually read young adult books or dystopian books on holiday - sone interesting ideas and questions, easy reading and you can get lonst in a whole other world.
plus I always figure I am on holiday, so will not be judged by people who know me lol
thanks ladies. I'm following up your suggestions searching on the kindle .. I'm terrible at giving up on books and downloading more ...just want something I can stick with!
ps duchess. ..great name and a great play so I'm assuming you have fine literary tastes ..
Just finished Before I Go to Sleep by S J Watson - brilliant, thought-provoking thriller (and only £3.67 on Amazon, currently).
Thought BIGTS was a pile of shit personally. Was a great idea but the author should have got someone else to write it for them.
I totally misread BIGTS!
Ahem, on topic, I did enjoy The Wicked Girls (Alex Marwood) which was recommended on here.
Hi Apprenticemamma - I have brought together various novels for Summer reading here: http://tripfiction.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/Recommendations-for-holiday-and-vacation-reading.html Hope you find something you like!
