Diana Gabaldon's Outlander to be a TV series

Anyone know this? been picked up by Sony and Starz. For anyone who likes these books, great news. Not sure how or when it will be broadcast in UK though. Hope they do a good job of it.

Love these books! I can't help thinking a film or TV series won't live up to my expectations though. Claire is my hero. The Connie character from Casualty (?) would be my choice to play her. No idea about Jamie but I agree with vole that David tenant would be great as Lord John.

Well it will always be Gerard Butler and Rachel Weisz (sp?) for me though I think they're now too famous / too old

I think Gerard Butler is a bit thuggish to play Jamie although he's the obvious choice.

Rumour is Jamie could be played by Richard Madden, also known as Robb Stark. Personally I think Hayley Attwell would make a good Claire.

Diana Gabaldon is posting on her Facebook page about Sam Heughan. She seems very keen for him to play Jamie. Personally I think whoever plays Claire will make or break this series!!

I'm deeply into the second book right now and loving it. Nice to see the actress playing Claire as TBH I never had a clear image of her in my mind.

And is it wrong that I kind of fancy Jack Randall? He's a complete baaaastard and a filthy pervy one at that... why do I find that so attractive in fictional men??

Oh it's the bloke who played Brutus in the Rome TV series. Hmm... not bad... not nearly as Alan Rickmany as I'd hoped for a BJR but not bad, not bad at all.

Love reading books before seeing a film/tv version of them... that way I get to make up my own head version of how they look and then get someone else's casting version after that.

i loved it, but...the kidnap/rape bit yukked me out , for that could not re-read
