The readers at Mumsnet were super helpful when we were looking to write a blogpost about novels with a gardening theme. Now we would love some help with novels with a 'perfume' theme. We already have:

The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro
Perfume by Patrick Suskind
The Perfume Garden by Kate Lord Brown
The Scent of Triumph by Jan Moran

Please let us know if you have read any others - and we acknowledge contributions in the blog. Thank you in advance.

Tom Robbins - Jitterbug Perfume.

A wonderfully surreal story based in the eighth century and the present day and written in Robbins' lovely madcap style.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

i have not read the book but did see the film. Very odd and quite disturbing film , but it does have the glorious Ben Whishaw in it which, for me, redeems it to a certain extent.

Poppadom the OP has that on her list already. It is a great book though, really creepy!

Wildest Dreams - Jennifer Blake (it's been a while since I read it)

Ah - sorry OP - I only knew the film title, not the author, so didn't twig when i read your post.

still - i got the chance to think about Ben Whishaw........;-)

I was just looking at one on Amazon, a Kindle book called Death's Perfume by Nicholas La Salla. It sounded quite good.

And further down the list from it was one called Perfume of Paradise by Jennifer Blake, which looked a bit Mills and Boon for me.

'The Crimson Petal and The White' - not exactly a perfume theme, but one of the main characters owns a perfume/toiletries company and smell/scent seems to come into it quite a lot. It's a really good book anyway
