I need some maternity leave suggestions please!

I'm willing to read anything fiction or non fiction but I'm looking for as much as I can cram into 9 months of night feeds and insomnia.

Suggestions as to what I should read would be brilliant.

Just reading Buddhaland Brooklyn, a gentle novel, transporting the reader to the gentle slopes of rural Japan, through the eyes of a Buddhist priest. Enjoyable so far.

I'm reading the Cazalet books. Sadly, DS has almost finished night feeding.

If you haven't read The Count of Montecristo or other Dumas stuff, try them.

And I read all of Dickens while BFing DD!

The book has a hint of buddhism/meditation/zen concepts - but the book isn't about any of those things. The book is about motherhood.

I loved The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway - it's a page-turner, but romantic and lush too.

What sort of books do you normally read krypton? You might not get that much time to read at night if you are lucky. After the first few weeks me and dc2 learnt to feed lying down and she fed for 10 minutes only just don't ask me about DS..

I can second 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' and Marina Lewycka's other book 'We are All Made of Glue' if you are looking for something easy to read and pick up where you left off. Quite amusing also!

Lots of pacey thrillers - good suggestions above! Gone Girl and Before I Go to Sleep are perfect!

Hopefully the night feeds won't last 9 months, and I can promise your insomnia will vanish as soon as the baby arrives! I have never slept so well (when I had the chance) in my life.

I recommend short stories. Not usually a fan, but kept me company during the lonely night feeds. X
