As title, I had heard of fanfiction but didn't realise how fun Blush it would be.

I'm not really into Twilight so that seems to rule out a load of stuff. I watched a Twilight film recently 'Eclipse' and R Pattinson really not my type so can't really get into that (although maybe if read a Twilight book to get to know the characters I might be able to imagine someone more tasty!)

I really like Angel (Buffy) but as its old a lot of it seems to be deleted.

Would be very grateful for any recommendations.

Yeah - undiscover. Most fan fiction is utter crap anyway.

Search the TSA threads for some good recs-
Draco/Harry- www.fanfiction.net/s/6435092/1/Turn
www.fanfiction.net/s/4842696/1/Reparations

Glee-Puck/Kurt-Finn (beginning is awesome, not so keen on the ending but it is an epic read!)
archiveofourown.org/series/8386

Marvel-Tony Stark/Loki
archiveofourown.org/works/315889?view_adult=true&view_full_work=true

Sorry in a bit of a rush but I can give you some more later if you like :)

Hi Sparkly, yep, come on over to the TSA threads, you'll find your spiritual home Grin.

If you google Smoochfest 2013 this is a fest based on a Harry/Draco pairing.

If you like Star Trek, there are lots of Kirk/Bones fic out there.

Can't do links at the minute, but will come back later and add some.

Thanks trockodile, tilly & Lurcio.

I will have a look at TSA, I had thought that my non-interest in twilight would mean I wouldn't quite 'fit' in IYKWIM.

Sparky, it started off with Twilight as that was what pulled most of us into FF but we've since diversified. Now people read Sherlock, Harry Potter, Merlin, Star Trek - all sorts really.

Though be warned, we have been described as a kind of Hotel California - once you're in, you can never leave Grin

I'm just wondering who this Trocodile is who knows of the TSA and yet has never said hello... Smile. Come on in, we don't bite much like the Twilight vampires

My favourite fanatic writer is A J Hall/Ankharet/Rose and Lizard. She writes across several fandoms, beautifully.

I have popped in occasionally Penguin (usually to mention the adorableness that is Tom Felton!) but mostly I just lurk Grin
I do enjoy the fanfic recs though and there are some talented writers within the TSA (and some good links to pictures!)
I have developed a love of the whole m/m genre ( I had so many gynae related health issues and ops last year that it was a real escapism!) and there are some really good authors out there- (at least one of whom i suspect may be a twi slut?) its a whole new world!

AJ Hall wrote some seriously good HP fiction - she is very highly rated. Copperbadge also writes very good in a variety of fandoms - his HP writing was excellent but also in Torchwood and Sherlock fandoms too. There were many good writers in the Interview with the Vampire fandom several years ago now but most of the good stuff is hidden away because AR has a veto on it and chases f-f writers with Cease & Desist letters.

Yuletide Treasure is a "gift-fic" site with lots of fandom fics.

Fanfiction net is not where you would usually find the better writers.

People like Cassie Clare (who went a bit more stratospheric with City of Bones) began as HP writers - I remember reading her very early fics.

But it's pretty much a case of "pick your fandom(s)" and then be picky about what you read: most of fanfic is rubbish.

I mainly (only) read Spike/ Buffy Fiction- and some of it is really excellent. Try 'All About Spike' - the NC-17 section has some very filthy Angel/ Spike stuff.
Google The Better Buffy Fiction Archive for a mixed bunch of stories.
And if you find a site that has closed down- if you go to 'The Internet Wayback Machine' and put in the address, it should find it for you.

Go to AO3: archiveofourown.org

I like a lot of the BNFs tbh: Astolat, Speranza, Resonant, AJ Hall, Dira Sudis, Annakovsky, Yahtzee, Eliade, Julad, Helenish, etc. Just search for the names. Can't go wrong!

The original slash fiction was Kirk / Spock from Star Trek TOS. I think it started in the 70s.

Look for characters of choice, plus fic plus awards. So many awards that anything literate has one. Helps filter out the dross...

If you like original Star Trek, try after the rescue, by Karmen Ghia. Best long fanfic ever. Second all about spike for good buffy- and if you type name/name fanfic recs, you usually get someone's picks, and that can be a good starting point!

Oh, and paperclipbitch writes really well in lots of fandoms- house, torchwood, glee, Shakespeare! And others.

Start with a pairing, then look for recs.

I absolutely do NOT write fanfic. I don't read it either. Never. Not even on Friday nights.

Aherm.

If I did read and write it, I'd be found in Supernatural, Merlin and Dr Who fandoms mostly. But I don't. So I won't.
