I really enjoy her novels, I think I have them all. She has a knack for creating believeable characters and has a good insight into everyday life and families Easy to read but not fluffy or chicklitty.

Anyone else like her work?

Yes I like Penelope Lively too. I was a huge fan of hers when I was a child as I really liked her children's books; the Ghost of Thomas Kemp and A Stitch in Time being particular favourites.

I didn't realise that she'd written adult books till I spotted them in a library and have found that I enjoy them as much as I did her others when I was younger.

Me! I think she's fab. My favourite is The Photograph - have you read it OP?

Moon Tiger is my all time favourite book. I still think about it regularly. It's so powerful.

tumbletumble yes, I've read it, but not for a while, will have to read it again!

siucra Moon Tiger is so good, it's stayed with me, too.

I've recently re-read and enjoyed Spiderweb, Passing On, The Road to Lichfield and How it all Began.

My favourite children's novel by her is The House in Norham Gardens. One day I'm going to sit in the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford and read it (you'd have to know the book to understand...)

The children like the Ghost of Thomas Kempe. However, I read Family Album ( I didn't buy I'm sure) a few years ago and found it utter rubbish.

I didn't like Family Album much. I did like Ghost of Thomas Kempe a lot though but it's quite a complex tale for children, really - still liked it though Grin

What's Moon Tiger like?
