I am in a book doldrum at the moment. Most of the authors I have been in the mood for recently don't have any new stuff coming out soon and I am in need of new material.

Authors I have been in the mood for recently include:

Neil Gaiman
Nick Harkaway
Daniel O'Malley (Rook)
Ernest Cline
Tom Robbins
Rivers of London series
Douglas Coupland

I also enjoy some Pratchett, Larsson, China Mieville, some crime writers. Help!

Rupert Thomson might be worth a look. He's just got a new book out, but I would start with 'Dreams of Leaving' or 'The Insult'.

Donna Tartt? The Secret History and The Little Friend, and a new one due out in the autumn.

Belinda Bauer. The Exmoor trilogy - Blacklands, Dark Side and Finders Keepers. All very good thrillers.

If you're in the mood for nice easy to read crime novels, I can recommend:

Lee Child - although Reacher is not Tom Cruise...
JD Robb especially for the sex
Robert B Parker
Robert Crais - my current favourite

I recently discovered the Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow - really brilliant crime novels set in Alaska with a fantastic female protagonist. I'm completely addicted!

You might also like Kage Baker - try her Company novels (starting with In the Garden of Iden). And have you read any Scarlett Thomas? The End of Mr Y might be worth a look.

I like John Connolly's Charlie Parker series, set in the north eastern US. Start with Every Dead Thing and go from there. The mixture of grim humour and gore is quite addictive.

Jasper Fforde's Thursday next series it starts with the Eyre Affair and is fab.

The "Banned Underground" I forget who wrote them are amusing, or maybe Malcolm Pryce's "Aberystwyth" series, I love those and I like most of the authors in your OP.
PS Power's "Very Good Man" series is brilliant - it is an "end of the world" thing, but has some brilliant twists and turns, and the characterisation is just fabulous. Her (his?) "Shortcuts" is good too. Don't be put off by the other books she's (he's?) written being teen/YA ones either.
I second John Connolly, and if you don't quite fancy his "adult" supernatural/horror "Charlie Parker" ones, "The Book of Lost Things" is fab, especially if you like the film "Labyrinth"
Simon R Green's "Nightside" series is good too, it's reminsicent of Neil Gaiman.
