Are they any good? I lobed the tv show and love to get in the mind of serial killers. But the first book has mixed reviews on goodreads. Anyone read it?

I loved the show and really liked the books too - I read all of them, some were better than others, but mostly good.

Do they really get in to his mind and how a serial killer thinks? That aspect appeals to me.

Well worth reading, tho it was a while ago. Maris no great psycho-analysis so far as I can remember. Just a strong sense that Dexter is the good guy, righting wrongs.

I loved the books, more so than the series. Well worth a read:)

I also thought the books were better, but the series was good. You just can't get as much in as the book does IUSWIM.

I read one or two of the books before I really got into the TV series. However, I tried to go back to the others (there are about 5) and the books and TV (characters, storylines) differ a bit and I found it all too confusing so I gave up with the books Blush.

I still have the first episode from the current series, which started last week, on the skybox and haven't got round to it yet - I think the last series wasn't the best, but considering the cliffhanger it finished on, I'm hoping that this one is going to be better.

Just love the guy who plays Dexter too...was he the guy in Six Feet Under, or have I imagined that...

Michael C Hall plays dexter and he was David in 6 feet under
Michael was married to Jennifer Carpenter (who plays Debs) I think they divorced about six months before filming series seven.
Love the show and have the books ordered from the library.
Series seven is supposed to be a return to form. And its also the penultimate one.

I loved the books and I can keep them separate from the TV show just as I can the Kathy Reichs novels and Bones.

This season is turning out fantastic so far.

Parsley, yes I am a massive fan but only recently. The DC bought me series 1-5 for christmas and I finished it all by the end of January.!! (Naturally I haven't told DH).
my favourite by far is the trinity killer series.
I haven't watched any of season 7 yet as I prefer to watch all in one go so I am desperately trying to avoid spoilers!!
I also have a massive crush on Michael, especially when he dons his killing top on and you can see his abs!
