I started reading it at 11pm, thought I'd get a couple of chapters in then go to sleep. Kept on reading and it got to 2am. Then 3 and so on. Read the lot by 7am Blush Dp work's night shift and I texted him to tell him I hadn't slept but it was self induced. He couldn't believe it, staying up out of choice? Confused

What a gripping read, totally absorbing. The two main characters weren't all that likeable which makes a change, you usually like one of them. I suppose of the two I'd warmed to him and of course her before I 'knew'.

I've recommended it to everyone I've spoken to today, and on FB. I doubt anyone will be quite as keen to finish it as me? Grin

I started this on Friday night. It hasn't gripped me yet, but it is holding my interest.

I really enjoyed it, although I found it slow to get going. Try Dark Places next- it's even better, I think.

Also meant to say, is it a big title at the moment? It's our current book group read but I hadn't heard of it.

I liked it - it was very cleverly put together with some sections that had lovely writing. I actually liked Amy more once the gloves were off. Diary Amy bugged me a lot, which I think she was meant to.

Funny you should mention Where'd You Go Bernadette - that's another title we've got lined up for Bookclub later in the year...

Meanwhile do make sure you come and ask Gillian Flynn a question on Tue 26 Feb...

Agree totally gripping-it's being made into a film.
Another good thriller is The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood-not quite as compelling though.

I LOVED Gone Girl! Haven't read anything as good for awhile so was gutted when I finished it (ridiculously) fast. Reviews I've read about it since have severely criticised the unconventional ending - I couldn't disagree more, the way it ended left me with a creeped out feeling which fit perfectly with the entire tone of the book!
