I loved it! I think it's a marmite book though, needs to be your sense of humour/silliness.

Made me laugh a lot too. The most inventive book I've read in ages.

Oh! I really liked it, thought it was great. I have just managed to read Life if Pi too, second time I have tried. Liked that too.

I didn't finish it either. Found all the stories about his past with famous historical characters really annoying.
Decided I had much better books to read than to waste my time plodding on with it.

Loved it. Very funny book. Best read I've had in a while for that price!!

Life's too short to plough on with books you aren't enjoying.

ggirl Sat 09-Feb-13 18:31:27

yes i have ditched it okaaaaaaaaaaaaay ;)

TaggieCampbellBlack Sat 09-Feb-13 18:28:31

Oh i liked it. V funny.

But if it only cost you 20p ditch it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Sat 09-Feb-13 18:27:26

I'm not very good when it comes to the sense of the ridiculous, which is why I struggled with this boom.

I liked the historical settings and I like the way the characters meet through the book. If it wasn't for that I would have put it down.

HanneHolm Sat 09-Feb-13 18:24:07

I think there's a distinct air of fun in it. You need to sign
Up for a suspension of disbelief

HanneHolm Sat 09-Feb-13 18:23:21

so don't read it then !

pootlebug Sat 09-Feb-13 18:22:37

I loved it. It made me laugh and since I was reading it when up half the night trying to get non-sleeping dd to sleep I just wanted to read something entertaining.

But I seldom finish a book that annoys something else if you don't like it.

maudpringle Sat 09-Feb-13 18:22:11

I have not finished it either blush

ggirl Sat 09-Feb-13 18:19:55

I like it at the beginning but it's sense of the ridiculous is wearing after a while...and with a kindle it is too easy to swap to something that suits your mood better.

DuchessofMalfi Sat 09-Feb-13 16:52:53

It's definitely a book that divides opinions. I read it a few days ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It appealed to my sense of humour, but I can see that readers will either love it or loathe it.

ControlGeek Sat 09-Feb-13 16:23:38

Oh no. I started that book on kindle a couple of nights ago but couldn't really get on with it after a couple of chapters. I started reading something else in the hope of maybe fancying another stab at it later. Is it really that bad?

ggirl Sat 09-Feb-13 10:28:51

i am about 60% of the way through (thank you kindle for that precise info)

the ridiculous plot is annoying me now
