Start using Mumsnet Premium What to read after Chris Wooding and Cherie Priest...steampunkish
(2 Posts)
DH read Chris Wooding's Tales of the Ketty Jay and he's listened to Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century in Audio [thanks to audible].
He likes the airships/steampunk twist, he doesn't mind the zombie stuff so much. He's looking for something with a male protagonist, or not too much lovey dovey stuff.
I've recently tempted into reading with some of the crap going on at work. He's read...
Carrie Ryan's Forest of Hands and Teeth series
Philip Pullman's Dark Materials
Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines [which he liked very much, even though YA]
I've currently got him into James Dashner's Maze Runner series and he's just about to finish the second book.
I mainly read Urban Fantasy and don't mind a little steaminess, he's tried some Jim Butcher Dresden files and didn't really like it [though he doesn't mind the audio books].
Would appreciate any recommendations.
How about Cryptonomicon? Great book but not really strictly steampunkish, though.
Would he be interested in cyberpunk?
