ive never read crime books before these, but just wanted to say they are some of the best books ive ever read!!!

im on my 3rd in the series and its getting a bit frustrating actually that i know whats happening before the characters are! just want to get to the end to find out whats happening....

anyone else loved these books?

I do love these. Must admit though they're a bit samey/repetitive. And I'm getting very cheesed off with each and every book going over and over the missing Sandy. Practically word for word in each book for about ten pages.

He's lovely on Facebook as well, really friendly and appreciative of his readers.

I'm reading "the lewis man" by Peter James - 20p on Kindle, its really very good, it has some narrative by a man with dementia and its hits a real nerve with me as he does and says some of the exact things my dad did, it hit me like a lorry actually how accurate it was especially as these things weren't stereotypical for dementia - either very well researched or based on personal experience.

I like them too, Roy Grace is such an ordinary bloke. But as with all series, there can be some repetition. I've read the first few and the last one, Peter James is starting to go off into Harlan Coben territory, but I like his books too.

Perfect People was good enough to recommend to my DH who doesn't usually read fiction.

Some of his horror ones are good too, I liked Alchemist.

You've never read crime fiction before? You are in for a lot of reading then.
I've read all of the Roy Grace series and do quite like him but there are many other, better crime writers around.
Why not read something else before your next PJ for a contrast?
Maybe John Harvey,Graham Hurley, Peter Robinson, Ian Rankin?

The Lewis Man isn't by Peter James, it is by Peter May (who also wrote The Blackhouse), sorry.

i will definately give some other crime authors a try now. ive got so many books to read, im on the second book of the Michael Grant 'Gone' series )teenage sci fi) which im really enjoying at the moment too, and because its teenage fiction its nice and easy to read so a good contrast to the Roy grace one ive just finished.

ive also got 'the wicked girls' by Alex Marwood lined up to read.... so many books, so little time!!

I like the Roy Grace series as light reading, get them from the library but tend not to buy them.

The Blackhouse and Lewis Man by Peter May - whole different ballgame, outstanding literary thrillers and would highly recommend these. There is going to be a third book to finish the trilogy. I'd like to see these books dramatised, will definitely watch if they are!
