I'm deliberately not going to read it. It's like 'Da Vinci Code' all over again and I can't stand hype.

There are so many better books out there, honestly don't waste your time on this pos

Our local Asda has set out a whole table laden with copies of this pos trilogy clearly expecting many sales. Tbh I wouldn't touch it. Will never be reading it. I hope I have better taste in books. Don't waste your money.

I read it. It passed a couple of days of sick leave. I quite enjoyed it actually, but there are thousands of other books which are better. It's really badly written, and a little strange in places, but if you fancy some mindless easy to read trash then why not? I wouldn't buy the actual books - I got them cheap on my kindle.

I've read all three and to be honest the "naughty" its get boring after a while they are all the same haha I became more interested in the story than those parts.

I rashly bought it in Sainsbury's. What a pile of auld shite. Appallingly written with a distinct overuse of the phrases "Oh my" and "Holy shit".

I will not buy the other two though someone could PM me how it ends as I am a teensy bit curious Grin

It's pants. I read it at work because I was bored silly and it was the only book available to me.

I was still bored silly but read the whole trilogy anyhow. It was football season or tennis or one of the two and the book wasn't quite so boring as sports or staring into space, although staring into space won out a few times.

Shakey it ends exactly how you have imaged it will. It's boring and predictable.

The Hunger Games is good. I'm reading that at work atm. I almost don't want my shifts to end Grin

I started to read it and got as far as the end of Chapter 10 and then gave up....it was a struggle to read that far!! All my friends think I am potty because i just couldn't get into the book. Not well written at all IMO! :)

It's q good read of only for the actual story not the sex . After the second book I skimmed the sex and just read the story as it was quite "samey" the story is good though

I heard it was about emotional abuse and stalking of a disturbingly stupid young woman? With a bit of spanking?

Halfway through book two...struggling now. Finding it repetitive, irritating and boring. Offended quite a few people on FB when I said I thought it was written for simpletons Blush

It's awful! Grin

I managed to persevere to the end of book 1 as I hate not to ginsh a book i have started, but I just googled the other two to see what happened and I am SO glad I didn't waste any more time reading them!

There is stalking involved Jinny, although I wouldn't say Ana was the victim of emotional abuse. She is dim and irritating, but not abused. Or at least most of her personalities are not abused.

Ah Dooin. My friend told me he manipulates her a lot. She (friend) was really unimpressed at the crappy relationship that's meant to be 'difficult but somehow romantic'.

Don't think I will read it..

It IS manipulative and controlling. Which is emotionally abusive.

Nothing like a real BDSM relationship, or so I am told, not having personal experience.

I'd never tell anyone not to read a book and tbf it's so thin in plot and characterisation you can easily read it in a few days.

However, some of the reviews are far more entertaining than the book and this one manages to be funny and convey the sheer ridiculousness of the book and the hysteria around it Best Review Ever

Also a priceless review.... www.amazon.co.uk/Fifty-Shades-Grey-E-James/dp/0099579936/ref=pd_ts_zgc_b_books_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&pf_rd_p=294486607&pf_rd_s=right-3&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=266239&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0KNWV88Y5EDKXN0S777A&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 - the one by lazycatfish, I'm 19 weeks pregnant and was in serious danger of wetting myself laughing....

As for the book, I bought it cos I'm nosy and wanted to see what all the fuss is about. I'm still wondering, have skimmed the last 80 pages or so, bored, bored, bored...can't be bothered to get het up about the abusive thing as the whole thing is so totally unbelievable and frankly I found it just irritating.

On the upside though the grapevine tells me that it has been causing much hilarity/ amusement generally with folks winding up their other halves.... cable tie in the post anyone??? perhaps a carabiner or a tie strategically placed on a pillow??? And I suppose it has provoked many an entertaining conversation both of stuff generally off limits and of the WTF hilarious type? Certainly this last bit has been it's one redeeming feature for me!
