So I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks and plan to spend quite a significant amount of time on beach, ice cream/wine/iced tea in one hand and book in other. I reckon I need about 4/5 books to cover this including on the plane/coach/sitting around in airport etc. I like chick-lit but a bit more serious style books and also murder mysteries. I've enjoyed Jodi Piccoult but find her a bit hit and miss. Also enjoyed Lesley Pearse, Magaret Forster, Rosamunde Pilchard (sp) and JoJo Mayes and We need to talk about Kevin. Anyone read any particularly good books by these authors and any other suggestions

Penny Vincenzi's are good holiday reads. I've just read House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende on my holiday, and also Water for Elephants which was a good read. You may also like Rose Tremain and Kate Morton.
