I have unfortunately read Harry out of order, but also loved The Redbreast. Have just started Nemesis , but read The Snowman and The leopard recently. Who would you cast as Harry if they made the film?

Clive Owen. Kind of craggy and good looking but not too handsome.

No Clive is not right - needs to be blond and tall....
Is The Leopard a Harry book?
Who is Hedstrom? Love Inspector VV and the one in Jarcity

I think my Harry would have to be either Ralph Fiennes or Christian Bale. Need someone good looking but rough around the edges.

Hello! is VV varg veum?? Daniel Craig as harry Hole. bloody annoying when they translate series out of order then end up with massive spolier about plotlines in earlier books.

bonnetarte · 23/05/2011 10:17

VV is Inspector Van Veeteren. He is a detective in Hakan Nesser books.
TC Daniel Craig has already been cast as Mickel Blomqvist in US version of Girl with Dragon Tattoo, so maybe not.
I get the feeling that HH is supposed to be more like Jo Nesbo himself but I also fancy dougray scott as HH

Oh haven't read any of them - are they good? Trouble with the Nordic stuff I find is they are so depressing - you need to intersperse them with something lighter (a bit of Italian stuff perhaps!)

bonnetarte · 23/05/2011 11:01

yes i agree can be a bit dark with all that weather and coffee drinking. not really summer reading!
anyhoo the Camilla Lackbergs are quite good although the translations have left them a bit flat for my taste. Much prefer Asa Larsson- she is a terrific read. Asa larssons book are set way up in Lapland with lots of interesting refs to Sahmi people etc. Beautifully written IMHO here

bonnetarte you are so right. Spent some time pondering this and realised that my mental image of Harry Hole is just Jo Nesbo himself....

UF yes but taller- maybe HH is who JN would Like to be! Although Jo N is a bit rocknroll too- hes in a thrash metal band apparently. LOL

I would love to go to Norway and Sweden - I'm enjoying Wallander at the moment. I'm particularly drawn to Norway as I'm an a-ha fan (lol)!

By the way, does anyone follow the 'Nemi' cartoon strip in the Metro. She's from Norway. Her outlook on life totally mirrors my own!
