Love Harry Hole "The Redbreast" xx

unclefester77 Fri 20-May-11 17:02:42

I'm very fond of Harry smile

I have unfortunately read Harry out of order, but also loved The Redbreast. Have just started Nemesis , but read The Snowman and The leopard recently. Who would you cast as Harry if they made the film?

Clive Owen. Kind of craggy and good looking but not too handsome.

Blackduck Sat 21-May-11 13:45:39

No Clive is not right - needs to be blond and tall....
Is The Leopard a Harry book?
Who is Hedstrom? Love Inspector VV and the one in Jarcity

I think my Harry would have to be either Ralph Fiennes or Christian Bale. Need someone good looking but rough around the edges.

Hello! is VV varg veum?? Daniel Craig as harry Hole. bloody annoying when they translate series out of order then end up with massive spolier about plotlines in earlier books.

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 10:17:59

VV is Inspector Van Veeteren. He is a detective in Hakan Nesser books.
TC Daniel Craig has already been cast as Mickel Blomqvist in US version of Girl with Dragon Tattoo, so maybe not.
I get the feeling that HH is supposed to be more like Jo Nesbo himself but I also fancy dougray scott as HH

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 10:19:53

Patrick hedstom is a police officer in Camilla Lackberg book series

Blackduck Mon 23-May-11 10:46:24

Oh haven't read any of them - are they good? Trouble with the Nordic stuff I find is they are so depressing - you need to intersperse them with something lighter (a bit of Italian stuff perhaps!)

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 11:01:21

yes i agree can be a bit dark with all that weather and coffee drinking. not really summer reading!
anyhoo the Camilla Lackbergs are quite good although the translations have left them a bit flat for my taste. Much prefer Asa Larsson- she is a terrific read. Asa larssons book are set way up in Lapland with lots of interesting refs to Sahmi people etc. Beautifully written IMHO here

unclefester77 Mon 23-May-11 11:30:04

bonnetarte you are so right. Spent some time pondering this and realised that my mental image of Harry Hole is just Jo Nesbo himself....

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 11:53:56

UF yes but taller- maybe HH is who JN would Like to be! Although Jo N is a bit rocknroll too- hes in a thrash metal band apparently. LOL

unclefester77 Mon 23-May-11 14:31:53

yes indeed....The other big problem is that having read all JN's books I am seized with an urge to visit Oslo but it is too expensive angry

taylor74 Mon 23-May-11 15:28:35

I would love to go to Oslo too x

unclefester77 Mon 23-May-11 16:16:14

<sniff> since I cannot afford to travel to Norway I have ordered [ The Dinosaur Feather] instead. It is set in Copenhagen, and I've actually been there, so I can stop whining now smile

unclefester77 Mon 23-May-11 16:16:39

hmm, messed the link up. This is the link

taylor74 Mon 23-May-11 16:33:03

Awesome link cheers unclefester77

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 21:47:11

gosh YES would love to go to Oslo and Stockholm and now Abisko too. Was talking to one of my customers yesterday who has just come back having got a Ryanair deal fro £9 return or something, but said she couldnt afford to eat out when she got there and that a pint of local beer was £8.50.
I make do with google earth LOL

bonnetarte Mon 23-May-11 21:49:10

Cannot WAIT for series 2

unclefester77 Tue 24-May-11 09:14:40

No. I missed the first one of the 24 after I left iPlayer too late, boo hiss. I am hoping for a birthday present box set now smile

horseyrider Thu 26-May-11 22:10:06

I would love to go to Norway and Sweden - I'm enjoying Wallander at the moment. I'm particularly drawn to Norway as I'm an a-ha fan (lol)!

horseyrider Thu 26-May-11 22:12:38

By the way, does anyone follow the 'Nemi' cartoon strip in the Metro. She's from Norway. Her outlook on life totally mirrors my own!
