After 3 years of writing poetry on a website called CanYouWrite.com the Edinburgh based publishers who run the site 'Fledgling Press' asked if they could publish my work in a book. It's very near completion-they are currently doing a first short print run-whatever that is! Does anyone have any advice on how I can aid the marketing of the book? I live in Wrexham, Wales.

I don't have any advice but well done.

I'd love to read it.
Will check out that website.

By the way, do you know that a man tried to put a pony on a train in Wrexham (I think) today?

Fab! Also, praise for Wrexham... It's lovely, so underrated (Mam was born in Llay!)

Well done! My policy for promoting my soon-to-be published book is to take part in online groups where people likely to be interested in it hang out (fantasy book groups in my case) and to send review copies to bloggers who blog on such matters. Good luck with it!

markmark are you Riven's husband? I remember she said you'd written a fantasy book and linked to the first chapter and it was really good. Has your book been published now? I'd give it a read.

I am - it's out in Germany (one day I swear I shall work into a dispute the phrase 'Madam, I happy to have once been the 37th best selling fantasy author in Germany!') & also Holland. Published in the UK and US in August. You can get a free paperback copy this moment if you pre-order George Martin's new book in store at Waterstones :)

'Prince of Thorns' (available for pre-order on Amazon). Be warned it's dark stuff though, literate/literary fantasy but not for the squeamish.

'pologies for the advert ... but you did ask!

Excellent, I did enjoy the first paragraph and I'm waiting with baited breath for George Martin's new book so if a copy of your book is thrown in for free I'll get that pre-order in with Waterstones.

Many congratulations on having your book published and I wish you lots of success with it.

Is canyouwrite a good place to put work up?

Congratulations :)

Yes, when it arrives send it and a CV to the Welsh Academy based in Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff. They will mention you when they can and get you bookings: readings and workshops in and out of schools. This is lucrative and will pay more than the book!

Can someone tell me a bit more how the site works? I have written a book (!) but have struggled to get an agent interested (although this could be because it's shit...).

More info on other places to try and get some interest would be good! Thanks!
