Ive just finished reading 'Water for Elephants' by Sarah Gruen to see if it was any good before seeing the film adaptation when it comes out in April. I was pleasantly surprised as couldnt put it down.
Any one else a fan?

I have just bought it but haven't started reading it yet.

I am really looking forward to it - just need to finish my other book first as I can't read 2 at the same time.

I can wait to see the movie.

I have high hopes for the film. Love the character of Jacob so really hope Robert Pattinson does it justice. Have been wondering if Reece Witherspoon is the right age to play Marlena.

I wont spoil the ending for those who are about to read it but will be interested to discuss the ending in relation to the prologue at a later date...

Agreed. In my head Marlena is older.

I loved that book I read it a few years ago on holiday with ds5 and I read a little to him too, trains and the circus, he wanted to know loads about the story.

I loved the piety and grace of the main character. I could visualize so much the film has a lot to live up to IMHO.

I really liked it - especially as had found it by accident so had no expectations. Looking forward to film but not convinced at casting of Robert Pattison

I liked the book but can't say that I LOVED it... I thought it had great characters, amazing plot and brilliant ending but was still somehow lacking something to put it on my list of great books. I think perhaps I don't know enough about the world it's set in to be able to visualise it fully, which is why I think I may enjoy the film more than the book in this case!

Read the book last week - loved it in a non-taxing read sort of way. Loved the way the begining + ending tie together.
Just managed to get 'Mail on Sunday' free tickets for the film next sunday so will be off with DD1 to see next Sunday - hooray! Grin
Any one know what certificate it is though.Confused

I finished it yesterday and suprised myself by finding it un-putdownable, not my sort of book at all. Think I will probably go and see the film just to see Reece whatserface balancing on a ball with an elephant.

I loved it but Reece Witherspoon is surely the wrong actress for the part. I think Marlene is only in her early 20's, Reece is mid 30's isn't she?

I really enjoyed the book, didn't know there was a film.

I pictured Marlena as being older, almost like a Mrs Robinson to the young lad. I imagined her to be mid-30s so Reese Witherspoon OK age to play her.

I loved the book and so did everyone i leant it too, it had been a charity shop buy so a great surprise. However i then went and bought another of her books and was very disapointed, it was a bit of a teen romance
