ahem there were quite a few threads about this a while back - and the consensus was that it wasn't very good ... sorry!

Horton · 26/11/2010 21:39

I really liked it. Ahem.

JuanManuelFanjo · 26/11/2010 22:28

I liked it too...but I have no taste as I liked 'The Time Traveller's Wife' which got a slating recently.

Horton · 27/11/2010 08:39

Oh, I liked that as well. Loved it, in fact.

i thought the beginning and middle was great and very original but they seemed to get out so easily I sort of gave up after that.

Horton · 28/11/2010 20:35

In a way, the bit after they got out was more interesting to me. It was kind of eerie to watch the unravelling of the world the boy had known and to see it replaced with something (slightly) more normal. How they got out kind of didn't matter. The point was the extraordinary change they had to get used to.

Totally agree Horton - there is soooo much of the same out there and this was a great stand out read for me..

I'm really looking forward to reading more by her. I thought it was really original in the way it was handled. And the little boy was totally believable to me.

I thought it was excellent. Accidentally lost 2 hours in the bath reading it as it was so gripping!! :)

Theantsgomarching · 29/11/2010 09:02

I read it travelling last weekend and the poor man beside me on the plane thought I was gone a bit mad I think, was roaring crying!
