Anyone else eagerly awaiting the publication of the new Shardlake novel?

I have just given in to temptation and pre-ordered it from Amazon. It is published on the 2nd Sept and I am most disappointed to be told that delivery will be between 8th - 10th Sept. How can I wait that long?

Anyone else?

I've still got one to read from the first four(just got it from the library). I love them.

Me too :)

actually, maybe some of you can advise me - I somehow have managed to read them all out of order and the only one I haven't read is the first. Now I am wary of doing so because I often find that a series like this improves with each book, so I fear that the first one will seem less good than the ones I've already enjoyed. Is that ridiculous? Should I just shut up and read it?

I am hoping it will be in at my local bookshop before we go away for a few days at the beginning of Sept.
Re reading Book 1 I would do so, none have disappointed

DirtyMartini - yes go ahead with the first book. The only disappointment in it is that Barak is not a character in it (not surprisingly as he clearly gets introduced in Dark Fire) but Shardlake has another assistant and the relationship between them is different but still interesting.

The only one that I find slightly less good than the others was Sovereign.

I am glad there are others of you as eager as I am. Perhaps we can meet again to share our feelings after reading the new book? I have seen in the synopsis that there is going to be more about Ellen which particularly interests me. And with the title being "Heartstone", I wonder if she might be the answer to Shardlake's prayers romantically speaking?

DirtyMartini - I would go ahead with the first, although there's no Barak, it will introduce you to the background regarding Guy, and it sets up a lot about Matthew's character IIRC.

I read them out of order too, (the one I have left is Sovereign).I wish I hadn't, But they all work as stories in their own right.

Dumbledoresgirl -I've also got hopes for Matthew regarding Ellen. Will happily re-meet to share feelings of the new one.Smile

Oops Kurri, sorry if anything I said puts you off reading Sovereign Blush

It is still Shardlake in all his glory, and the ending is fab, I just felt less engaged with the plot.

No - don't worry Dg Smile, - I have heard others say that too, bit I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, it will fill in some of the gaps I have from reading Revelation out of order.

Ok, will order book 1 from the library. Thanks. Think I'll buy the new one though - bound to be a long queue of requests for it otherwise. Would be nice to discuss here later, will add thread to watch :)

What's the new one called? I NEED it now!

Heartstone

I read it on holiday recently and absolutely loved it. I re-read these but as i lent the first one to my son I can't start again as I need to read them in order.

I have tried to read Wolf Hall but now know I enjoy a good story more than literary writing. I was once told I didn't know how to read as I don't have an English degree!

Anyway, I digress. Has anyone else finished Heartstone?

Thanks Earthy - have reserved it at my local library, but there are 55 people in the queue ahead of me!
