Has anyone else delved into this series by GRR Martin? I've just finished the first book, "A Game Of Thrones" and I am HOOKED - have ordered the second book from Play.com and am waiting for the postie every morning hoping today's the day it arrives! Would love to hear from anyone else who loves the series too.

They are absolutely brilliant, I am a huge George RR Martin fan. He's not scared to kill off characters you like, and the world is so real, especially the complicated politics! I am still waiting impatiently for the next book to be out, it's been AGES since the last one!

I agree, they're brilliant. But it's been so long since he brought out the last one that I'm going to have to read them all again to remind myself of the story! What a shame!

And did you know that they are creating a film or a series out of the books.. Not sure I'm a big fan of that as generally I don't like film adaptations of books because I think my imagination does it all a whole lot better!

It's all about the rereading, Carbs! I have reread them a few times, and every time I am astonished by the level of detail. Everything is so wonderfully described, and I especially love that Martin is not afraid to kill off characters, so when they're in dangerous situations I genuinely worry for them, as they might not get a reprieve.

Not sure how I feel about a film of them - I suspect there would have to be a huge amount left out of them, and the casting would be difficult. Not to mention the cost of the animal work (for the direwolves) and the CGI (for the dragons). I guess a series might be able to handle the complexity of the story better, but it probably wouldn't have the budget for the special effects.

I was reading about the adaptation - it's for either HBO in the US (likely BBC2/C4 here like The Tudors/True Blood), has Sean Bean as Ned Stark and... oh hang on, I'll find the link with the info, save me copying it out!

Annoyingly for me, dreaded Real Life has gotten in the way of me getting my teeth into A Clash Of Kings but hopefully I'll get the time for it soon.
