Weight Watchers

Anyone else finding it’s just not working?

I rejoined WW in November. First two weeks I was 100% on it. No loss. Then Christmas holidays struck and weight went up. Back on it “properly” in January. Since then I’ve had a few meals out and parties but I would say I’m on it 90% of the time - tracking everything.

I do the green plan.

Since Jan I have lost 4.5lb. I had lost 7 but I gained 2.5 over half term and 2 weeks later it’s not gone.

Anyone else really struggling despite tracking and measuring and sticking to it most of the time?

I don’t really know what to do... (I do it online as I can’t get to a group near me)

Thanks

It doesn’t work if you stick to it “ most “ of the time. I’m sorry. You can have the occasional treat but that’s all.

I think it’s important to keep yourself in check even when you are having those “off plan” relaxed days. I found I need to still make smarter choices and not go nuts while having a treat. Some people can have treats and still lose, unfortunately I’m not one of them! When I’m on it 100% I lose consistently.

What are you eating when your not on plan?

I don’t really have off plan days - but I have been out for meals where I might have a few glasses of wine, or to a friends for dinner where I can’t count points. If I know I’m out in the evening I have a low point lunch. I also save 4 points a day during the week.

My off plan meals over the last month have been a curry evening at a friends (home made, I didn’t have naan but I did have a few glasses of red wine), dinner at a Mexican restaurant (yeh ok, I had enchiladas 😂), brunch out with my mum.

If it doesn’t work alongside living my life then it isn’t going to be the plan for me I guess. I just know when I did it before I probably only stuck to it 80% of the time and I lost weight.

Maybe it’s cos I’m getting old 😂

Also I’ve had several 100% weeks and never lost more than 1lb

Sounds like your really trying OP, I know how frustrating it can be!

Are you weighing your food? Essentially if you are using less calories than you need you must lose weight - if not then there may be something else going on, contraception etc. Most of the time, it’s because you aren’t as 100% on plan as you think you are, although I know a lot of people who can’t lose any faster than 1 pound a week. Try stripping right back to basics and do some calorie counting?

Can you say honestly hand on heart that you are weighing and measuring everything accurately?

Maybe co soder changing the plan you are on to a different colour. When I do it, it works tremendously for me. I stopped a month or so ago and cant get my head back in the game at all though.

Are you peri menopausal or menopausal? I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a bitch when trying to lose weight. Never used to be so bloody hard to shift a few pounds!

Also spread any naughty days out. I was told (not by a company) that it takes three days to gain weight through treats. ie the first day you over eat by a treat it’s fine, the second it’s also fine and you won’t put in, however by the third your body has noticed the change in habits and reacts. Same for losing weight. So spread treats well out. I’ve not lost when treating but haven’t gained either using this method. And by treat I mean a little thing. Not six bars of chocolate and three red wines or a similar major blowout we all crave!
Try walking extra too. It can delay weight loss as you get more muscular but it will help long term.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone. When I am tracking yes I count and weigh everything accurately. I take healthy lunches to work, drink water all day long, make on plan dinners (husband is losing weight and not even trying ffs 😂)

I’ve even got out of the “off plan day” mindset - it used to be the case that when I knew I was going out for dinner I’d just binge all day cos “I can’t count today” but now I see it as a meal off and am sensible in the day. It’s frustrating!

Exercise might be the way forward. It’s a shame cos I’m super lazy 😂

Have you tried changing Plans? I use the Blue Plan and love it. I eat out regularly, drink too much wine and have not increased my exercise, only walk the dog and have always done that.

It doesn’t work for me unless I stick to it rigidly 7 days a week. I was miserable and felt really grumpy as I wasn’t eating enough and also exercising.

Come off green plan and try blue. I’ve lost 16lb in 8 weeks, I track everything and have had a good few treat nights.

Thanks again everyone. I’m going to switch to blue and see how I get on. I’ll give it a few weeks then maybe try purple...

I'm a bit late but your right to swap I started on green and after 2 weeks weight loss just stoped and nothing for 2 weeks even though I was on my points every day and only using minimal weekly points (and I have the weight to loose). I did a quick calorie count one day and it was way to high for me switched to blue and it's been consistent weight loss since I looked at purple but lots of people online are complaining about being starving on purple which is not something I have experienced on blue.

You need to stick to it all the time.
I believe It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1lb
So even if you are making that over the course of a week, but then over eat at the weekend, then you’re back to square one.

Can’t you save your weeklies and also fit points and use them when you go out for a meal?
I guess you have to decide if it’s more important to go out and have a big meal and wine
Or if you can have a lower points meal and one glass of wine and then switch to water or Diet Coke etc. And stay on plan.

It’s really hard after an extended period of time, so I totally feel for you, but I think you know the answer is that most of the time isn’t enough

Good luck! Xx

Thanks again for replies. To be honest, sticking to a food deficit plan 100% of the time is impossible, for me. I am never going to be someone who doesn’t go to a friends for dinner, or who turns down a cocktail because I’m “on a diet”. So perhaps therein lies my problem. I like my life, I’m busy and I go out a lot and have fun and food (and drink!) features a lot! I think as I’m getting older - and I have an under active thyroid which doesn’t help tho I’m on meds - it is more and more difficult to lose weight and maybe I need to make peace with that.
I know my mum quit WW when she got an email about how to have a WW friendly Christmas Day and she was like sod that 😂

I promised myself I’d give it 6 months and I will continue tracking and making sensible choices and up my exercise etc. But I can’t see myself staying in, or ordering a salad, to be on plan if I’m completely honest. Because I’d have to do that for the rest of my life!!!!
I genuinely don’t know how that would work to be on plan 100% forever 😂

Thanks all, replies have been helpful and perhaps I need to shift my focus and perhaps WW isn’t for me and I need to think more about health, physical and mental.

Good luck everyone! Smile

I think to be long term sustainble, being 100% of the time in deficit is pretty hard going. I think that is what the weekly points are for though, but I have to admit this week I've not been so motivated and I suspect I will have used all my dailies and weeklies...
But, if slow and long term weight loss is ok for you (and no reason it shouldnt be - not everything has to be fast!), then personally I think that as long as you are in deficit over a week (i.e. can have some treats) then all is fine...
