I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

I started a couple of weeks before Christmas. Managed to lose 7lbs in the run up. Then went wild for Christmas and new year but somehow have only put 2lbs back on! It's a true Christmas miracle 😂

Back on it now. I have 13st to lose. Or actually that should be 12st 9lbs to lose now!

Are you using connect on the ww app? I've found that a great support.

I'm in too! Joined new years eve and I have 2 and a half stone. Good luck ladies.

Any tips for snacks? I have such a sweet tooth and struggling to know what's my best option!

I'm more of a savoury girl myself but if I fancy a sweet treat I have fat free natural yoghurt with frozen mixed berries or a chopped banana and a sprinkle of sweetener. 0 points.

For savoury snacks - hard boiled eggs, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, crab sticks, cooked peeled prawns, any pickled veg (love my pickles)!

Do you have to eat your points each day?

Report
cricketmum84 · 02/01/2019 22:09

You should yes. As you lose weight your points will decrease. If you are already eating under your points then your weight loss can plateau.

Hello everyone. I've just joined (both WW and mumsnet!) The app looks good!

I would like to follow some WW themed instagrammers, ideally UK, so please post if you have recommendations. Or any one that would like to be followed on Connect.

Thanks!

Ok. That seems quite hard as everything seems to be 0 points? eggs, peas, tangerine all eaten today and all said 0 in the app?

should you avoid 0 points food?

Use 0 points food to fill you up. Use your points for things like your carbs, pasta, rice etc. I have a lot of points Cos I have a lot to lose so I do things like add chopped walnuts to my fruit and yoghurt.

I've been doing it since September - lost 16lb between then and beginning of December (which included 2 weeks in Florida, which I gained and subsequently lost).

Put on 5lb over Xmas (well, most of December) so January's aim is to get that off.

Can I ask a question please? I've considered doing it but I have a concern about the point free foods like chicken and eggs....I'm a binge with little self control. How do you not overeat them?

Report
FabulousUsername · 03/01/2019 07:47

The zero point foods will fill you up, I've heard the word satiety used to describe them. Hard to overeat! But the important thing is that you have to take responsibility and become aware of your body signalling that it's full.

I gained a huge amount over Xmas, 7 lbs that won't come off overnight Blush disheartening because I'd been so pleased to have lost it. So I'm restarting with a vengeance, first weigh in next Wednesday. What's helped me is to look at the long game-- I realised I've got recorded weights since 2008 on the app! I've been a member off and on, weight up & down but am less now than my starting weight 10 years ago. I'm determined to get to gold membership, just bought the discounted 3 month membership and hoping that will take me over the line!

@tryinganewname Thanks! I'm the same username as here. Everyone's food looks so great (that's Instagram for you I suppose!!)

Re over-eating. I think the best thing to do is eat as much veg as you can for your 0 point food. Veg is filling but very low in calories so it's very very difficult to "over-eat".

Personally I wouldn't restrict intake of things like chicken or eggs or any other 0 point food. You will know after a week if you are eating too much when the scales haven't moved! Remember eating little and often gets the metabolism running so you could do something like:
B - fat free plain yoghurt and mixed berries - 0pts
Snack - hard boiled egg and carrot and pepper sticks - 0pts
L - big grilled chicken salad -0pts
Snack - fruit
D - pick a recipe but could do pasta, curry and rice etc for under 10pts.

That basic day leaves enough points for a G&T, packet of crisps or whatever treat you like. Adding a handful of chopped pecans to breakfast or a whole meal pitta to lunch can up your points so you are eating them all.

@szetox followed back - yes, I think the people of instagram only put on their nice looking food!

I'm on 24SP a day currently.

Plan for me today:
B: Banana and Raspberry baked oats - 4SP
D: 0 point Quorn mince chilli with a small (very small) jacket potato - 4SP
T: Quorn sausage tray bake, not worked out points yet but will have more than enough.

Does anyone know why there such a point discrepancy between "coffee with milk" and a "latte"? Aren't they basically the same?

Report
WeightWatching2019 · 03/01/2019 14:02

Lattes are about 80%-90% milk, basically a milky coffee flavoured drink. Whereas coffee with milk is 80-90% coffee/water with a splash of milk to taste.

I just add 3 points’ worth of semi-skimmed milk to my breakfast to see me through my teas and coffees throughout the day!

Hi everyone - I've just joined WW and feeling motivated!
I'm 11st 3 and would like to be safely under 10 stone so I've got about 1 1/2 stones to lose.
I signed up using the free month link and 3 months half price so would like to reach goal at the end of those 4 months - do you think that's achievable?

Report
lardass88 · 03/01/2019 14:40

Does it make a difference if you sign up for the pay monthly or upfront one using the link?

Report
WWGoalGetter · 03/01/2019 15:06

I couldn't see any difference - same price, plan etc. so I chose to pay monthly for 3 months. They both go onto a rolling contract after the three months (+free month, if you have it) unless you cancel.
