Just wondering what people think about the new Flex part of WW.

Have you had good results?

I've not being trying in the slightest so need to get going but not sure if I'll get on with it this time.

I don't like it. I don't eat 7 points of chicken/sweetcorn/eggs a day so I'm really struggling to get under 23.
I have, however, kept my 30 allowance and stuck to that (therefore not using any of my previous weeklies) and have repointed my meals. I can't do 23 though.
I've lost 8.5 in the first 3 weeks of flex though

I hate it. I tried it and gained for two weeks and I wasn't significantly eating more of the 'zero points' foods, in fact I was eating less and feeling hungry in the evenings. I have gone back to SmartPoints as at least I was losing consistently on that. I have read that many are feeling ill. constipated and/or eating meals wiith zero points so they can use the points to binge on booze or sugar. They should have just had Flex as a third way.

It is working well for me (but to be fair, this is my first time doing WW). I can happily live on protein, fruit and veggies and then when I blow it all up on my one dinner out a week it is not such a big deal. Two weeks in and lost 2kgs.

I’ve lost 5lbs in 2 weeks but it’s boring.
I must admit I’m eating so much more veg, soups and salads so I feel better and I’m not getting that afternoon dip that I normally have.
I’m hungry though and 23 per day isn’t enough

it works to lose weight but it is boring and that would make maintenance hard - it is one thing being bored if losing but not sustainable for long term maintenance.

I've lost 3.5 pounds this week so very chuffed. There again I like chicken, eggs and fish! I think I would struggle if not. Prawn curry a couple of days and chicken breast some of the others - I do a mini roast dinner with it. Gravy, stuffing, small yorkie, roast pots (frylight) etc. You wouldn't think I was on a diet!! I have a huge breakfast with 2 eggs, tinned tomatoes etc, sometimes mushrooms, sometimes tinned soft roe. It's working for me.
I'm not rolling over.

I didn’t lose anything on my second week but I did go out a couple of times and knew prossecco wouldn’t be great.
But I didn’t gain back any of the 5lbs weight loss from the previous week.
I’m also having a heavy period so I’m accounting for that also.
I’m back to 10st so I’m ok with maintaining for a few weeks.

Quite liking it.. don't eat 5sp of treats or snacks in a day so points reduced isn't an issue.
Had 9sp left today but when added up what I'd eaten it was 7sp of now 0sp foods.

I hate it. There don't seem to be enough zero point foods to make quick or cheap dinners and the daily points aren't enough for me.
At least on no count you have potatoes, wholewheat pasta etc that you could use for dinners. Think I'll go back to that.

We’re you losing on the no count system?

I have lost 5lb in two weeks, but am now feeling really hungry, even although I have just eaten my dinner. I have been binging on fruit, so it is an expensive diet. Part of my trouble is that my work is very outdoor and physical, and it is awfully cold outside. My body is craving carbohydrates. I am a bit constipated, and I don't like chicken breast either. Fish is nice though, but expensive. I am getting to like o% natural yoghurt, but given the choice the cream in variety is a million times better.

I like it, but my diet hasn't really had to change to accommodate it as I was eating so much chicken anyway. I can see why people don't like it and I think they should have made it easier for people to stay on the previous plan if it was working for them. I'm on a few fb groups and so many people are finding work arounds so they can stay on the old system. But the people who do like it are so evangelical about it!

Oh but must say, lost 2lbs the first week but haven't lost since and have gained 0.5lb. That is possibly due to a few Christmas meals out tho so I'm not going to focus too much on it until Christmas is over.
It also strikes me as a bit odd to start bringing in these changes just before Christmas, surely it would have been better for people to stick with a plan they know during a time when eating habits can be disrupted anyway, and then bring it in for the new year when everyone is freshly motivated. I guess they have their reasons.

I must admit Ive changed my settings to eat my fit points.
I’m too hungry not to.
So I’m maintaining atm which is fine until Christmas and NY is done.

I've been to a meeting after a few weeks break (illness/other commitments) so have just been given the new books. My leader didnt really explain anything to me apart from saying that fish and skinless chicken and eggs are now zero. She didn't let me know my points will go down (though I guessed).Am I right that the minimum is 23 daily? That's what I'll be on as I haven't much to lose.

Had a range of feedback from other members, some very positive, others just bored of yet another revamp. I suppose it's way for them to market new cook books.

Yes. I’m on 23 a day. I don’t have much to lose now. I’d be happy with half a stone so I’m going to concentrate on this better in Jan and just maintain during Xmas.
I need breakfast ideas though and more soup recipes.

I'm on WW Flex too and lunched on hot smoked salmon and a slice of bread without butter for a treat. And baked salmon is points free is't it!
Then I had a cup of tea with skimmed milk and felt virtuous. I went to log my lunch and found...
But no..... Oh horrors!
I found that I had gobbled up 8 points of salmon, and 4 of bread. That makes 12 points!!!
How did that happen?
The packet said the ingredients were salmon, salt and oak smoke.
Can anyone explain?

Report
Dontfuckingsaycheese · 20/12/2017 14:28

The fish cannot be smoked. I asked our group lady about it and she says smoking changes it too much to still be zero points. I don't know. Upsets the protein?? Science and shit.

Have you tried Weightwatchers sliced bread, white or malted, one point a slice. It's really not that bad. Smile I toast it for breakfast with eggs etc. Without the butter you'd swear it was fried bread!

My breakfast - I have most days

2 eggs fried in a couple of squirts of oil 0points
1/2 tin chopped tomatoes 0points
2 bacon medallions 1point
1 slice WW bread, toasted 1point

total 2points Halo

I use a warbuton thin toasted with eggs on for breakfast.

I use the app and I think it changed over automatically without telling me?!

Regardless, it was a nice surprise when I went to point a fillet of salmon in a restaurant and it came up as zero points!

I like it, whatever it is (still not sure TBH) and I'm losing weight so I'm happy

I like it. I've been struggling with weightloss for a long time - came away from WW when they moved to SP and put on weight (previously a gold member). Had a text about Flex so thought I'd go back, find out about it and give it a go.

Lost 6lbs in the first two weeks, but haven't been on it quite as much as I should have been for the past 3 weeks as I've been a bit busy (can't think why Smile). Weight has stayed the same though.

If I focus on eggs/chicken I find it boring, but it's made me more adventurous - I eat more pulses and beans, fish and tofu than I have before. I also find that I'm more willing to 'spend' points on sauces and flavourings than I have been previously. Having the zero point things has taken some of the pressure away - rather than focusing on everything I eat I know that the piece of fish or chicken is zero. I've become more relaxed about food and eating has become more about fuelling my body.

Smoked fish - apparently the process of smoking it removes some of the water, making it more energy dense and therefore not zero points. Personally, I'd call this a grey area and would likely have a little bit, just not too often and if I noticed my weight loss slowing down I'd start tracking it a bit more diligently.

I don't like it. 7 points is a lot to lose, I liked WW for its flexibility and ironically the "flex" programme is much less flexible. I don't know how to eat enough on 23 points!

It’s much what I was doing anyway . I’m eating lots of protein and vegetables and fruit . Well I was before x mas . I think it’s good to eat like that long term , and be mindful of fats and sugars .
I think it’s the best way long term .
