Hi all. I'm delighted to see a new thread for vintage weight watchers! I will be starting on Monday, weigh myself Monday morning which I'm scared about as my weight has just got out of control the last few months. I really need the support & motivation here online as will be my my only outlet. I would love the motivation of a weekly weigh in but the new Weight watchers plan doesn't appeal to me & this old plan worked v well for me ten years ago! I've a lot to loose but I'm just gonna think one stone at a time.

I didn’t like the Smart Points. I found it very restrictive. Let’s be honest, we are trying to lose weight because we like a treat! Smart Points restricts those treats whereas Pro Points allows for them. I’m over my Points this week but and desperately going to try and make them up over the next 2 days! 🙏

I understand that smart points is like swimming world & fruits are zero points & vintage is the discovery plan. But what's the difference between vintage & pro points? At least you are tracking everything so well done for that.

Do you mean the difference between SP and PP? If so it’s that the SP plan lowered the points value on healthy food like proteins and upped the points for sugary foods. The idea is to make you eat more healthily. Ironically I remember a leader once telling me that if you do a F&H day you should still be careful of your portion sizes, I thought that was the whole point of F&H, to eat as much as you wanted off the list??? I think that’s why Slimming World didn’t work for me, I went mad on the portions. 😳

I know that's the thing for Me too: portion sizes. I can really overeat all healthy stuff so it it just wouldn't work for Me as I would eat far too much fruit etc. I'm weighing myself in the morning 🙈🙈 🙈
I'll report back later in the week. The first few days of any new regime is tough going!

LadyD33 let me know how ur weigh in goes. Mine is Wednesday night.

Notreallyhappy 30lbs that’s amazing!!! I lost about 3 stone on WW but that was a good 13 years ago. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been now. We can do this! Do you use the Ultimate Food Diary app? I use that along with the PP booklet, it’s really good!

So first official weigh in,came in about 14.7 stone. Need to lose 3 stone to get into my healthy BMI range. I literally am just gonna focus on one stone at a time otherwise I feel v overwhelmed & stressed which will cause me to comfort eat. This is the biggest I've ever been. A lot of that weight is wine & comfort eating in front of tv! Most of it I would say. I hate everything the diet industry stands for &how they exploit people. I also agree mainly that diets don't work so I'm framing using WW vintage as a lifestyle change. I've tried the whole clean eating thing, all the no diet diets but when you eat well anyway & sugar is not the main problem, you dont see results fast enough & can easily lie to yourself. I'm going to point everything but am going to try not fall into the eating diet foods trap or low fat diet either. Going to use real butter etc but in limited amounts.
I'm going to do the fast start for nxt two weeks. It says as I'm over 14 stone I can have 22 points a day. When I did this plan eleven years ago, I was on 18 points a day. I'm tempted to do 18 points a day for nxt two weeks to get a better result although that is a little extreme. I'm just so disappointed &horrified at myself that I let things get so out of control. I put on two stone in 8months from giving up smoking & general comfort eating. No point feeling sorry for myself, just have to deal with it! Delighted to have an active thread for support!
Rant over lol

Well I went for my weigh in today and had lost a pound and a half. So celebrating tonight with a Chinese takeaway (now you see why I fail half the time lol). I am at my heaviest I have ever been. I actually think I am in the morbidly obese range! I’m about a stone and a bit heavier than you and am disgusted with myself! I just like all the wrong foods!

I like your thinking regarding eating just normal food but in moderation. I actually think you are right. I bought Tesco low fat yoghurts thinking they would be ok and a bit cheaper than a brand, they are about 3 points where’s a Muller Light is 2!

I did WW years ago and know the plan you mean. I think I started on 22 points and lost 3 stone. I don’t think you will be able to do 18 points a day, it will be like having one meal a day, especially as the PP’s don’t have half points.

I’m thinking like you are, I want to get down to 14 stone and then I will set my next goal. There’s no point thinking I need to lose 6 stone or it will upset. It can be so damaging mentally so I think small, realistic goals are the way forward.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure things have happened in your life that have been out of your control. The main thing is you now want to focus to do something to make you feel better, you will get there. We will have good weeks and bad weeks. The way I see it is if I lose and average of 1lb a week that will be 52lb in a year!

When I originally did PP’s the minimum daily allowance was 29, I would then divide up my 49 and give myself an extra 7 a day so I had 36 a day. Then I read somewhere the minimum PP’s were dropped to 26 before they changed to Smart Points so I don’t know wether to look at 29 or 26.

Thanks Jul1e53, I weighed myself today & was down 7 pounds. Now hopefully that will stay off. Probably only water but it's a start. I was extremely strict so from tomor will relax a little as I know it won't last otherwise. Was probably a total lack of wine & accompanying cheese LOL! I think I needed to prove to myself that I was capable. I have so much less anxiety the last week I think because I feel I'm tackling the issue of my weight which is a really good thing. Anyway would love to hear how everything is getting on!

Well done Jules, that's really good, steady losses! You should be delighted with yourself! Well, if we keep our good work & are consistent, can you imagine how brilliant we will feel at Christmas? It is definitely about making new, healthy habits. Finding this week easy going enough which is great!

Thanks LadyD33, I’d be happy if I could lose that every week but I know it doesn’t work that way. My aim is 1lb a week so I lose 52lb in a year. Taking in to account good and bad weeks that should be achievable. Saying that I had one of those big tubes of Smarties today which was 19pp so I need to make some points up tomorrow lol.

I’m working on 29 points plus my 49 giving me an extra 7 a day. So I have 36 a day. I just hope that’s ok because of what I mentioned before about people saying the daily minimum allowance reduced to 26. 😩

I know, it's hard to know. Trial & error might be the only way. If u lost a pound a week consistently it would probably stay off. I weighed myself today, I think lost about three pounds. My scales is so old,it's hard to tell & hard to see. I'm definitely down. I should probably use those electronic ones they sometimes in have in boots. So I'm feeling really good overall & confident that I can actually do this!

Oh that’s fantastic! Good on you!! I’ll be honest, I caved this week. Went out for for a carvery lunch on Sunday and tried to be good. Then today I thought stuff it. So I didn’t go for a weigh in tonight, couldn’t face paying to be told I’d put on weight! Will be back on track tomorrow and keep going, not gonna let this beat me! 😊

I don't know if anyone is still doing this, I have only just found the thread!

I am doing vintage points (the ones before ProPoints). I have lost 7 stone since September 2016 - so 15/16 months or so. I actually have a thread on here somewhere!
