Getting back on the wagon

Tips needed please...

I've been doing WW since the end of April and I'm 4lb off a 2 stone loss. I have made sure to have treats as if is the only way I would stick to a diet.

I've had 4 days of eating really badly (family celebration, days out to theme parks etc.) and can't seem to get myself back in gear.

Hi DDN, sorry to hear you're that you're struggling to get back on it. Me too, lol. What's going wrong for you? Not tracking, too many snacky things or just generally lost the plot? You can do it! Remember how far you've come and maybe look at an old photo to remind yourself of what you've achieved so far....

I do this occasionally. Often I'm not even enjoying it anymore. You've come a long way. Going to the gym, painting your nails, 'investing' in your appearance all helps me turn it round.

cosmicgirll A bit of both Blush it was my son's birthday and I love picky food so that and all the temptation of having little cakes and things around has led to not really tracking accurately.

Plus we have had a day at a theme park where food choices aren't the best. I've been better than I used to be (cheeseburger rather than a whopper) but it has been so nice. I can't wait to be in the maintaining stage rather than the losing stage!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants I am not enjoying it and don't need the food. It reminds me of the emotional eating I used to do and I don't want to go back to that.

Since I started WW I have started taking a bit more care of myself and it makes me feel so much better. I just need to focus on that.

Take it one step at a time, one meal at a time. Can you mix things up a bit to maybe make it more interesting? Try a new recipe once a week? Definitely look at what you have achieved so far. Remember why you started as well. I am now doing low pointed Cake treats, as that helps keep me on track. If you are you pointing, how about trying some no count days? Or vice versa? Sometimes we can get stuck in a bit of a rut. Track everything, good and bad! Even if you end up over points, sometimes it is a bit of a kick up the rear. It can also make you think about maybe how you could deal with something slightly differently next time around. Do you use all your weekly points?

Thanks sez49 I don't use all my weekly points as I only lose a small amount if I do. I tend to have a week sticking to my dailies going maybe 1 or 2 over on a couple of days and a week when I use about half my weeklies.

I definitely need treats to keep me on track, I don't feel strong enough to have an off day as I just can't get back to it.

My weight loss has generally been slower this time, but I have stuck to it for much, much longer, so much so that it is becoming a way of life, which should hopefully help me in the longer term to keep the weight off as well, instead of yo-yoing which is what I have spent my life doing. If using all your weekly points means you lose a bit less, does it matter if it helps you to stay on track for longer? There is a video, 'the dieting corridor' on YouTube. If you aren't offended by the bad language used, it may be worth a watch. For me, I probably used to jump from one end to the other and then give up. This time, it has been a much more gradual steps along, bit by bit.

Do you do any/much exercise? I started with a little bit of walking and have gradually increased that. I now rely on fitpoints (not all of them) to help keep me going. Last week I only used some, this week I have used loads as I had a family gathering. I definitely need some treats, otherwise it feels like I am depriving myself.

I have been staying on track on holidays too. I know if I go off, I will struggle to get back on it, as that is what has always happened in the past. Not to mention the 7-14lbs I could easily re-gain!

That was a good video sez49 I like his attitude towards food.

I definitely need treats, I feel deprived without them as well. It's so hard though, because I just want the weight gone, it's a balancing act. I am an emotional eater as well so I think I need to learn to deal with that.

I am exercising at home, mostly using Davina's 30 Day Fat Burn and 7 Minute Fit. I have weights so am trying to use those , but would really like to do a kettlebell class but it's difficult to get out in the evenings.

It's so hard to get back on track...

I have watched a few of his videos. Think about the reasons why you wanted to lose weight in the first place. That might help to get your focus back. Aim to improve a bit each day or each week. Maybe try and plan ahead a bit. I remember when I was struggling a previous time to even start tracking and weighing breakfast, my WW coach said to track and weigh out/prepare my breakfast the night before, so it was already done for the morning. Every step in the right direction will help. Maybe look at some of the FB groups that are around, I find they help inspire and keep me motivated.

Do you track your activity? I find having fitpoints available helps to keep me in track when I need to use some. My losses this time are a little bit slower than previous attempts, but I have never managed to stay on plan for more than a few weeks/months before, so this time things are different and I have accepted this is a lifestyle change.

I would love to do more activity but am too tired in the evenings. I have also accepted that my activity needs to fit in with my current routine and be compatible with being able to stick with it in the long term. What I am doing now has become a way of life, so it works. Always room for a bit of improvement though! 😂
