Weight Watchers

It's easy, and working but slowly!

I've been doing weight watchers online for nearly 3 months. I love the app and the 24/7 online chat function, I find the plan easy to stick to for the most part, and I'm losing weight! All good right? Except I am averaging a loss of less than 1lb a week! In 12 weeks I've lost 10lb. I don't weigh myself weekly so not sure of the ups and downs in between, and going to a group isn't an option for many reasons!

I'm pleased with the loss, I've dropped a dress size and people have noticed, but I guess I was hoping for a bigger loss by now?

I've got approx 1.5 stone more to lose.

I should just keep going, right? Anyone else experienced slow loss?

10lb in 12 weeks is good going! That's roughly what I'm hoping for. I need to lose 14lb so that would be great for me. It's disheartening when the losses are so small but over time it's good.

Are you exercising at all as that can make a difference? Are you drinking lots of water?

I have lost 3 pound in 2 weeks, I must admit it is disheartening, as expected a bigger lose at least in the beginning, but as I kept getting told, as long as losing then the end result is the same, just slower and healthier.

I certainly don't think you should be disappointed with that weight loss but just wondering whether you are mostly pointing or no count and how you judge your portion sizes?

entirely pointing. Think my portion sizes may be the problem and bought kitchen scales today, so can weigh up the amounts properly. Probably am having to much food per serving.

Just keep going. Slow and steady is good and it's more likely to stay off that way. I'm 3 years down the line, lost 3 stone and so pleased I stuck to it

Sorry, lost my 3 stone in about a year and have been down at current weight for 3 years. My original post wasn't clear

Thanks for replies. I am entirely pointing, I've done slimming world in the past and it got me into some really bad habits (I find it hard to identify when full so I eat and eat!) so I love the points system as it helps portion control etc. I guess I feel a bit disappointed as I have heard of people who lose 3/4lb a week!
I am sticking with it though, slow loss is better than no loss and hopefully I'll keep it off this way. Everyone I know who did slimming world has put it all back on again...

I lost 4 stone through pointing about 7 years ago. First week I lost 7lbs and then around 2-4 a week for a good few months. The rest came off weekly pound by pound - sometimes only half a pound a week. But it was all heading in the right direction and 7 years later, it's still all off and my eating & exercise habits have changed.

Buy the scales!

Slow and steady wins the race and all that...

I don't think a lot of people lose big amounts week after week, it slows down, especially if you don't have a lot to lose.

I only want to lose a stone and I know deep down I'm hoping it melts away in a month - but it won't, it will take 3 months - at least!

I've just weighed myself at my mums and I have gained 2lb! I've stuck to the plan religiously. Gutted! That means 8lb in nearly 13 weeks. Feeling pretty despondent!

Do you always weigh yourself on your mum's scales? Could be a factor.

Yes I don't own scales I only ever weigh at my mums

I've managed to lose about a stone in 12 weeks. Weight comes off slowly but this is more healthy in the long run.

You have to count your points daily, every mouthful. It makes you more conscious of what you're eating and how much you have left for the day!

Also - please please go to the meetings religiously every week. The weekly weigh ins are a goal and something to feel accountable to every week -makes a massive difference to your weekly motivation, whether you have lost or gained.

Take a look at the free food you are eating especially fruit. The calories can soon mount up. I have to stick to one or two pieces of fruit and perhaps a few berries a day to lose. That said, I started on 18th March and have lost 10lbs and I have a lot to lose so you are doing fine. It's a bit disheartening but we will both get there and it will be so worth it.

As mentioned, make sure you aren't eating too much fruit. Are you drinking enough water? Are you eating all your daily and weekly points? Some of my weeks have been smaller losses and some bigger losses, everyone is different. Just set a small goal to aim for but don't don't set a timescale. I have had lots of weeks where I have gained or stayed the same, despite sticking to the plan, weighing, measuring, pointing and tracking. Sometimes our bodies just don't reflect the efforts put in. But it usually sorts itself out over time. Stick with it and look at loss over say a month. The slower it is to lose, the easier it should be to keep off. Some people do better eating more protein and less carbs. And some do better in no Count instead of smart points, or vice versa.

Coming back k to this, thanks everyone.

I eat loads of fruit! And veg. But I put every morsel I eat into my online tracker app so everything is accounted for - should I still cut down?

I can't go to meetings and I can't weigh myself weekly but if I am
Sticking to the plan I don't see why weekly weigh in would make a difference, I'll weigh the same whether I know what I weigh or not...

I'm still hovering around at less than tJan a stone loss and I started the plan at the beginning of February. I'm perfectly happy following the plan, it's pretty easy, but I'd really like to see more of a loss for the summer.

I'm going to have to start exercising, aren't I?! 😫

Absolutely a weekly weigh in isn't necessary. It is better to look at the result over a few weeks anyway as even with a weekly weigh in, the result doesn't always reflect what has been happeneing over that particular week.

Depends what you class as too much fruit and veg? What may be 'normal' for one person, may be not enough, or too much for another. I eat quite a lot of veg and have done for years, so I haven't suddenly increased it. Somedays I eat more fruit than others, but don't go too mad on the fruit. I suppose, some of the old WW plans, where fruit had to be counted has stuck with me, so I am a bit more mindful when eating fruit.

WW now make most fruit and veg 'free' to encourage people to eat plenty of fruit and veg. But I do know of some members who have been struggling with the results on the scales and have had better results cutting back their fruit intake. All fruit and veg still has calories. If you have 'drink' fruit in smoothies /juices it needs to be pointed.

Are you drinking plenty of water? Lots of people seem to find increasing their water intake helps when they are staying on plan but not getting the results.

I decided to start doing walking to get fitter. Not sure if it has improved the results on the scales, but I have generally had better results since I started eating some of my fitpoints. Everyone's different, so you need to find what works best for you.

Swapping from snacking on fruit to get helped me lose weight. Fair enough you can't get to group but you're weight fluctuate s during the day, so you do need a sort of routine to know properly how you're doing. I normally do a morning group but couldn't make it once and went to my leaders evening one and I was 2lb heavier, she said your weight can change that much over the day, think about how much you might eat in a day etc don't lose heart it's a good loss x
