Online v attending meetings?

I want to give WW a try but I am really pushed for time and struggle to get childcare so attending meetings is possible but it will be stressful at times.

Does following the plan online work well for people? Has anyone done it successfully, or do you really need to go to class to keep your motivation going and keep up with new developments.

Online would be so much more convenient for me, but I know I can be a real quitter so maybe meetings would keep me on track. I just don't know what to do Confused

I've tried both but the only way it works for me is to attend meetings. I need to be accountable to someone and having to face my leader each week as I stand on the scales is a real motivator. I love the meetings and always learn something new every week. I always took my youngest with me before he started school. Children are always welcomed as long as they're not disruptive. The talk only lasts twenty minutes which DS could cope with.

I was just wondering about this. I signed up to a free 2 week onine trial on sunday and it's going well but I feel like the meetings could be really helpful.

I'm abroad so can only do online. It's worked for me so far, but I think having a "buddy" is all important so you can prop each other up.

The connect function is a brilliant source of support if you can't get to meetings. Leonard, are there no WW meetings in the country you're in?

Nope, doesn't exist here. Then again, neither does obesity!

A country where obesity doesn't exist? That's got me curious. My first thought was you're in Japan but then I remembered sumo!

Ha, no. it's a South American country. There are a few obese people of course but they are few and far between. I get a LOT of comments - and I'm a fairly 'normal' size 16 back home!

In doing online only (I priced the online and meeting - wow loose the wrong kinda pounds!)

I've found it works so long as I'm strict at completing the app - and when I'm sat on sofa with the munchies that I consult the app before saying yes to the biscuit - it's really helped me see what my problems were

  1. Portion control
  2. Too many bad things on plate at same time (it's ok to have hash browns / onion rings / chicken kiev - just not all on the same night!)

I've decided after losing 4 pou8nds this week to stick it out with just online. Then if my weight loss slows too much or I'm lacking motivation I can sign up to do the meetings.

I'm wondering the same as the OP. I really need to motivate myself to lose weight - it's been slowly creeping on over the last few years and I've been in denial!

I previously did Weightwatchers in about 1999 and hated the meetings - the leaders were really patronising and asked us to think why we hadn't lost weight (probably the chinese with 3 crispy duck pancakes I'd had at the weekend Grin). That was before there was any decent online programme.

I really just want all the points info, recipes, meal planners and food ideas so I guess online will do that but I am worried about the lack of motivation.

It's £19 for 3 months online at the moment with a free recipe book so I think I'll do the same as ICJump and try online and see how I get on and join the meetings later if it doesn't work.

The meetings are half price at the moment. It's £32 for three months and a free cookbook too. I'm starting back at a meeting tomorrow as I have not been good over the holidays. Dropping the children off at school, weighing in at my meeting and wiping the slate clean!

I signed up for six months online for 45 pounds about three weeks ago.

I'm finding the tools online quite motivating. As I it quickly shows how many points you have left. I'm in Australia so the sites will be a bit different but I'm not missing the meetings at the moment

Actually I've just realised the £19 offer is online Blush that does seem pretty good value.
