I missed last weeks thread as I was on holiday & haven't read it to catch up yet.
I weighed this morning on my dodgy scales & have gained a lb - I suspect I'll see more than that over the next few days, although I did do loads of walking & pram pushing so maybe that helped.
I'm going back to full on boot camp this week - an actually really looking forward to it!
Well, I wieghed in after my carb=loaded weekend - and I broke the stone barrier! Im 2 lb down from last week. How is that even possible? I dont actually believe it, so will weight again tomorrow. How long does the gain take to show?

BIWI Do you have the original ubercamp info to hand please? I printed one off but then realised it is an eggless one.
I have just looked at my calendar and seen I have a set menu lunch on Wed so that is a pain (just checked the menu and it is not going to be easy, it's a big lunch so the menu is not variable other than a veggie alternative which is risotto so even worse!)
All I need is DH to bring chocs as an apology now!
1lb up. I definitely feel better and svelter after ubercamp, so for me this is just a lesson to judge by the fit of my skinnies rather than what the scales say.
DH got back from a solo food-shopping expedition yesterday looking like he'd found the holy grail. He was madly waving a packet of Atkins "crackers", bless him. I'm really not a fan of the branded products (the chocolate is obv full of sweetener witchcraft and makes me think of Monica-From-Friends' Mockolate) and these did not fail to disappoint. Rather like chewing on a particularly fibrous doormat.
Morning everyone, I'm 1.75lb down this morning so thats a total of 11lb so far. We even went for Indian on Saturday night and I was able to join in and enjoy the evening without worrying. I love this WOE. I hardly ever feel hungry, I've cut out so much snacking, I can't remember the last time some chcolate passed my lips... I'm feeling great. I shall try and keep up with the thread this week, last week I missed a day and couldn't catch up! I hope people have some good results today.
Brilliant, Penny! Looks like you ought to make it a whole stone by the end of Bootcamp.

Ewan I have had those before, they are very doormatish aren't they? Even copious amounts of peanut butter cannot compensate.
I am like you this week, weight loss minimal but am starting to feel that I have shrunk a bit. In my size I could not, with a clear conscience refer to even my tightest jeans as skinnies but my "slightly less chunky" ones are looser around the waist.
I have also realised that a couple of years ago I was going to SW and had already given up by now as I just couldn't get back into the diet after Xmas. Well my weight loss here has been disappointing to say the least since Xmas yet I am still motivated to keep going as the food and the support on here are great. That is a real accolade as I would have given up anything else by now whereas this is becoming a way of life so it is just a matter of when I lose weight rather than if.

Three super strict weeks for me, as I've put on a couple of pounds, never mind shed any Christmas weight.
I knew I would have done, as I've had a bad couple of weeks, food/drink wise. Starting to do the 'what the hell does it matter anyway' kind of thinking, which is definitely fat thinking rather than thin thinking!
I'm surprised it hasn't been more actually - although I presume all the exercise I've been doing has helped keep things under some kind of control.
I had really wanted to get to my 9 stone target, but I doubt it's going to happen for me in this Bootcamp - but let's see ...
I am starting proper as of today and have been out for spinach and smoked salmon and tuna and mushrooms and.....you get the picture [wmile].
A quick question regarding sweetners BIWI. I am odd in that I don't have a traditional sweet tooth, I like savoury carbs such as crisps etc.
I read The Diet Doctor link about the effect that Pepsi Max had on his bloods...ketones etc. my question is how much of that do you think might have been a placebo response? I wonder what would have happened if for example he drank a Pepsi Max every morning at the same time and continued to do his bloods. Would his body have caught on and realised.....no carbs here after all?
<desperately trying to hang on to one glass of Pepsi Max a day......if only to help with the initial cravings >.
I could do an experiment......and see how I do this week.....<pleads>
Or more productively I could do some more reading about this topic. As I say, I don't crave sweets etc, just potatoes and crisps and breads.....all cut out as of Saturday.
Off to google now to see what else I can find.....am drinking a large glass of............water...and it's nice.

Scales a few pounds up but that will be the weekend wine. I have taken to using Wednesday as my official weight in.
I am going to ubercamp this week. Managed to give up dairy last week by switching to unsweetened almond milk. I like it. Missed the cheese and cream a bit but it forced me to think more about what I was eating.
jake, the thing is, regardless of cravings, sweet tooth, insulin reactions etc, sweeteners just really aren't very good for you - do you really want to be putting all that crap in your body when you're making the effort to eat good, clean, wholesome food the rest of the time?
Thanks BIWI, I've still got a long way to go but I'm feeling very positive about getting there. At the moment I eat quite a bit of cheese/FF yogurt and I know that as I get closer to my target I will probably have to cut some of this out to help keep momentum. But tbh if a bit of cheese and a glass or two of white wine once in a while are my only vices, I think I can live with that!

I have sts after dropping 3lbs on ubercamp, then had shocking weekend of stupid eating and drinking so at myself. it was not worth it
so it's 3 strict weeks for me too ...
Aarrggghh - i'e disappeared off the spreadsheet. Guess it's because I didn't declare while I was away (and then in recovery last week!). Am now back to 172 which is almost where I was before I went skiing. Am staying on Bootcamp - seem to find it easier than allowing myself any "freedom" and I want to reach my next target of 165.
Hone answer is NO so will avoid as much as possible.
Jake - artificial sweeteners are to be avoided as much as possible. Bootcamp is about eating natural food as well as trying to lose weight.
I have no idea about the Diet Doctor's experiment re if it is a placebo - but there's lots of rumbling around the internet about the possible damage/harmful effects on our bodies of using sweeteners - even something like stevia (marketed as Truvia or Purevia) which is supposedly natural.
If you don't have a sweet tooth, you are very lucky! Don't even think about continuing to drink Pepsi Max (or other diet drinks).

Pleased that some of you picked up the subtle signs that I was a tad excited. I weighed myself again this morning and I was 9 stone 5, but I pushed the scales around the bathroom floor a bit until they showed 9 stone 6 - I want to enjoy the luxury of that before I go any lower. I also measured my waist and an inch of fat has melted away - so I'm not thinking about losing weight with its loss connotations, I'm thinking about sculpting a better shape.
Welcome to the new starters - I was a late starter and might have scuttled off again if BIWI and Willie hadn't been so bloody lovely and welcoming.

mumat39 - completely agree - the health aspect is the biggest focus for me. Feeling this well is the treat.
Have done a bit of Googling.....am convinced. Going cold turkey is going to be difficult for me but yes....worth it. Interestingly my Pepsi Max craving which was strong this morning has now passed thankfully....we still have a few cans in the fridge but DS will grab those and once they are gone I won't buy any more.
So far today
Coffee with a splash of cream
Scrambled eggs with butter
Tuna mayonnaise mixed with a small amount of chopped spring onion.
Am reading the New Atkins as well....like that it has included loads of measurements all done for me as I am so new to this. I actually looked at labels today in the shop.
Dinner tonight is lamb chops, buttered spinach and something else. I will boil a few new potatoes for DS to have.
Lunch will be smoked salmon and salad leaves I also have cheese if desperate.
JakeBullet Well done on ditching the Pepsi Max. Have a lovely glass of ice cold water (I drink mine out of a beautiful big wine glass) and the hit of cool liquid at the back f your throat should help a little bit. Coffee with a splash of cream has now become a vital part of my day and cheers me up a bit every day.
