Best meal replacement shakes?

Hi... Am looking into meal replacement shakes as I work shifts and sometimes just can't be faffed with food preparation (just leads to eating crap!)

Anybody tried them? Even just for breakfast? Just wanting a comparrison I guess - or is slim fast the leading brand?
Any thoughts? Thanks...

Unfortunately, most meal replacement shakes are horrendously high in sugar. Which means that you might be getting a fixed amount of calories and they might be fortified with several vitamins and minerals but they are also likely to leave you feeling extremely hungry quite shortly after eating and therefore lead to overeating when you next get the chance of a square meal

A healthy pack-up ... sandwich, piece of fruit, yoghurt... takes minutes to put together. Not all that much of a 'faff' surely?

Hi Herriot

I haven't tried the shakes as to be honest I don't see how I could live on shakes and barely any food but that is just me as I like my food!

However, as you said you find it hard with working shifts in making your own food I wanted to let you know about the diet I am doing. It is called Go Lower and they send you all your food so you don't have to make it yourself and I have to say it is very yummy and I have found it really easy to keep to.

Mummymels... we know you're an agent for these go lower people but your ad campaign is starting to get a little repetitive and obvious

Hi... The issue I have is that I work nights. And I was looking into the shakes for a 'breakfast' at 6.00am before I go to bed. Then a 'lunch' at 1.00am whilst on shift the 3 days a week I work.
That way am not eating 6 meals a day for those days! The rest of the time we (mostly) try to eat low-fat slimming world type food.

So I probably didn't explain myself properly - I do love my food - just wanted an alternative to stuffing my face through the night.

Ah sorry Herriot, I misunderstood, sorry about that. I know a neighbour of mine raves about the juice diet and he has lost lots of weight so maybe juices would help you. Apparently Jason Vale is very good for that.

Chil1234, I am just excited about the amount of weight I have lost and to find something that works for me so want to share it with people, that is all. There is nothing wrong with telling people about something that you have found helpful if it could help others.

I have to say, I LOVE my food but have been doing slim fast now for over a week.....I feel great, am losing weight and I am NOT hungry.........It tastes better if you add a lot of ice and snack on fruit/veg rather than the bars or pretzels.....we shall see if I can sustain this!

I use holland and barretts whey protein for breakfast. I have the vanilla one and tastes ok but would recommend you also buy the shaker cup to mix it up right.

They are half price until Friday too.

I'm on celeb slim and you have two replacement bars or shakes a day. Theyre really tasty and filling as well and you can eat snacks in between. I'm doing well on the diet so far and have lost a fair bit of weight.
