Give us a bit of virtual support for the Moonwalk tonight! 15000 people power-walking the streets of London from midnight tonight dressed in outrageous bras
Give us a thought when you can't sleep in the night due to the heat!

Good luck, I don't envy you in this heat! My friend did it last year and said it was amazing, such a great atmosphere! Do we get to see a pic of your outfits?

Hoping to put a pic on after the event. For those of you interested, we're trying to get a mumsnet team together for next years event via the "pedometer club" on this board.
My dd's best friend's dad is filming the event for the official Moonwalk video, has done it the last few years. Said its worth the lack of sleep

Also for those of you with SKY or the like, there will be an hour's programme about the event on Discovery Home and Leisure on Thursday at 8pm I believe.

Right better go and stuff my face now. Will try and post tomorrow to let you know how it went.

Hi guys!

One tired but VERY happy moonwalker here
Fab atmoshere, nice coolish breeze. Best bit I think was walking along by the Thames as it was getting light. Absolutely beautiful. Also fun walking through Battersea Park at 3am, the streaker, seeing about a dozen young blokes on the top of a night bus do a double take when he saw all these women walking along in bras, the firemen outside a couple of stations cheering us on and approaching the finishing line to loads of cheers. Finished in 6 hours 55 mins so delighted I got in under 7 hours which was my original goal.

Will post pics in due course (not in digital camera age yet I'm afraid) but to be honest my bra was decidedly sober compared to some

I can't recommend it enough. Lets do it next year!

Well done Posey! I did the 'half-moon' with a group of friends (7 of us in total) - first time for all of us.

Thought it was fab, but I was surprised that there were no road closures etc - it made it difficult to keep up a decent pace in the beginning.

Have to say, I really felt for all you 'full mooners' at that point at which the half mooners peel off to go back, and the others still have another 13 miles - eek - don't think I coudl have done that!

Anyway, we had great fun, and it was amazing to be walking back with the sun coming up
Think we raised about ÂŁ1300 for Breakthrough.

Posey -

Well done! Was it physically exhausting, or were you pumped full of adrenalin and not even conscious of being tired? Did you feel prepared? What was the longest walk you'd done in preparation?

As fate would have it, dd and I were in a taxi zipping down Park Lane at about 8.30 last night. I saw many women in their pink and white t-shirts and many in their decorated bras too. Thought of you (in fact, wondered if I was passing you without knowing, of course), and thought again how wonderful it was that you did the walk. Really hope I can join you next year.

Your fellow pedometer club pal,

Earlybird

Thanks for all your messages.
Earlybird - in answer to your questions, sleepy tired, no. I'd only got to sleep about 2am the Friday night as we'd had a quiz night at school which I'd organised and I was on a real high from that. Added to the heat plus being excited about the moonwalk meant sleep didn't come easy. I was up about 10.30 and then managed just half an hours sleep in the day (again excitement kept me awake!). On Sunday morning I was falling asleep on the sofa at about 11am so went off to bed then for about 4 hours.
Physically, I felt nothing until about 15 miles when my legs began to ache a bit. The hardest bit was probably 19 miles onwards, the worst 24 to 25 miles. I'd done a pretty good amount of training although a holiday 3 weeks before the event probably was badly timed. The longest I'd walked was 5 hours, probably around 19 miles (pedometer was playing up a bit), but I did stop on and off for 5 minutes at a time. On the night I didn't stop at all except for one loo visit (when I "hovered" rather than sat as I was scared I wouldn't get up again

I crossed the finish line at 6.30 and was back home by 7.45. Ds was very surprised to see me walk in, just said "You been on your long walk mummy?" He's 2 1/2

People at school today were really impressed I'd finished but to be honest it never occurred to me not to! I would only have stopped if I'd been injured.

Anyway really looking forward to next year!
