August 09 New Mummies - working on those Jelly Bellies

cairns · 22/09/2009 14:09

Anyone want to join me.

I have 2 lovely (big) DS's but that has definitely taken its toll on my body. Not just the jelly belly but on my thighs, face etc as well.

I need to lose 2 stone to get to prepregnancy weight pre DS2 (and approx another stone to get to my weight pre DS1)... but one step at a time.

Weight loss seems to have faltered since birth and I am BFg so mammoth boobs and huge appetite aren't helping either. I am hating all of my maternity clothes with a passion and other non maternity clothes.. well lets not go there they look awful.

Would love to have support/focus to help lose that weight

Can I join??!! Also 2 stone away from target after two over 9lb babies but just lack motivation and every time I leave the house all I can think is that the 1st thing people will see is the jelly belly/thunder thighs

11lb wtf??! I've just cut back on the bf to one or two feeds a day (was easy 9 or 10 before)and the weight has pilled on even more, appetite still there but calories not burning
I think I lost my old body for good when saw the pregnancy test result with DS 3 years ago! Even to come close again would be fab...

I've got a Hollyoaks Dance Workout DVD thats been collecting dust on my shelves that I keeping convincing myself I'm going to breakout but I think it may just actually kill me lol

Cutting back Bfg can impact weight loss and it is really hard to cut back on what you are eating as you kind of get used to it, although I remember with DS1 I did start to lose weight when cutting back BFg as I think my body was holding onto excess water/fat

Still can't even fit into my 'fat' clothes though and still in maternity stuff grrr, I don't want to buy any new clothes though as I want to try and let that be the motivation to shift this weight, it is all on my thighs, tum and obviously boobs, so nothing fits.

Since 'deciding' to try and shift the weight I have had a relatively healthy couple of days (bar one glass of wine after a disastrous day with DCs) although it has been hard as I want to eat all the time.. I think I'm mistaking water for hunger.. so must drink more and will try and snack on fruit/raw veggies to stave of those pangs a bit

I am full of a cold at the moment too, which in a good way I suppose is kickstarting things a bit.

My plan is just to eat a bit healthier, smaller portion sizes ( i was eating the same as 6ft5 DH) and avoid bad snacks/wine/chocs/crisps etc. Will see if that works. It is difficult though when Bfg as I want to still make sure my supply stays up.. will see how it goes anyhow.

Hi ladies

KKQ if you just eat 20 bourbon biscuits a day you should be fine

why is it that anything that tastes yummy and satisfying is bad for you?

I have been really good all week, I havent eaten any crisps, chocolate or junk and I have only been drinking water (instead of pepsi all day everyday!)so lets hope the scales are nice
Not sure when I will get to weigh in as it depends when I can get over to my Mums house!

I did cambridge diet last year and lost 7 stone in 6 months but I dont really want to go that extreme this time. I cant do cambridge till im 12 weeks post birth so im really gonna try hard these next 5 weeks and if I get decent results I will continue doing healthy eating instead of going down that road again.

Ready, have just told dp that i'm allowed 20 bourbon biscuits a day

Dp and I weigh the same-ish at the momemt so we are having a competion to lose weight, he just undertook me by a pound!!! And keeps offering me fried food and icecream!

May have to start injecting his mueseli bars with lard as revenge

Does anyone know how b/feeding and dieting works out? I think if you are feeding a baby its a loss of about 500 calories, im still feeding ds1 too and have been told 3 toddler feeds in a day approx equal another baby being fed, so does that mean I am losing 1000 calories through breastfeeding and if so how many calories should I be having???

I have never bothered dieting before I have been 6 mnths post partum before so haven't got a clue!

KKQ isnt it annoying how men lose faster than women without trying any harder? Add in loads of extras to his portions (cream, butter, cheese etc) and really sabotage him

No idea about bf and dieting but maybe your hv or gp can advise you best?

Ooooh just had our weigh in on the bathroom scales!!! I am now 12 stone and half a pound!!! ( was 12stone 3!) And Bloke is now half a pound under 12 stone! GRRRRR

Think I will post the bf + Dieting question on here and see what comes up My GP is a lovely chap , but its just not his area of expertise and my HV ers on the side of caution in all things!

No idea on the Bf and dieting either. I am trying to just be 'healthy' too and see how that works for now before anything more extreme

KKQ .. well done on the weigh in good for you. You are very close to me on the weight stakes (I am now 79kgs.. which I think is around 12st 6).. so you can race against me too if you like

Sunday is my weigh in day as that was when bubs was born, easier to remember ... and this week have lost 3lbs woohoo (despite the pizza yesterday).. so will continue with the smaller portions and avoidance of bad stuff.

I went shopping today with DH to buy a new cot, and a felt sooo fat and grim in my non fitting clothes so even more determined now.. lets hope for another good week.. although DH has decided to cook roast pork for dinner

well done Ready that is super, I wish I could do 7lbs in a week

Things going well here (except for the glass of wine I allowed myself last night after finally settling DS2 who was overtired), ate healthy today and yesterday and made myself walk all the way with the double buggy to playgroup and back this morning (as well as put all the toys out and away), so that should have helped too.... just need to keep on track

Hi all, how are you all getting on.
Well been a mixed week here, good days and bad ones TBH. Bad ones normally because of having a hard time with the DSs and feel the need to treat myself once they are both down in the evening.

Am finding that I am soo hungry with the Bfg that I need to make sure that I am drinking lots of water or eating fruit/veggies for snacks during the day.

Seems to be working as weigh in day for me and have lost another 3lbs this week, so if I can keep this up will be happy. I do feel a lot better for 'trying' to shift the weight too.

Hi all, Had my weigh in today and i'm 11stone 10!!! Its not much, but its a move in the right direction

I've spoken to a very lovely b/feeding counsellor who has told be to allow 400 calories for breastfeeding the 2 ds's and I'm using a website called weight loss resources. Its not any particular diet but its more a case of logging in the calories you are eating and excersising off, it also helps you keep track of how many veggies you are eating etc. Its about learning how to eat healthily for life.

I am also drinking 2 ltrs of water a day and feeling much better for it.

According to the website I should aim to lose about 2lbs a week max so I'm not going to get to my target weight until February.

So I'm aiming at being back in my fave jeans for dd1's birthday Gotta have a goal

Hows everyone else doing??

well done KKQ! that is great all downwards which is what we want.

Great info re Bfg and extra calories. The website sounds great I will have to check that out.

I had my weigh in too yesterday and am now 12stone exactly, another 2-3lb loss this week so it is steadily going downward too. I think I am eating fairly healthy and normally so I think the weight loss must be down to those bfg calories. I am quite happy about that. I know it isn;t fast but if I keep it up slowly but surely I will be down to my 1st target weight of 10.5st (Have set myself 3 diff targets as I find those last few pounds the hardest to shift) and as a treat have agreed with DH for a shopping trip... so my motivation at the moment is still wearing my old 'big' clothes that I hate.

DH is now 'helping' which is great as he challenges me in the evening when I somehow go for a sugar fix.. so have been drinking some low cal hot chocolate instead which seems to sort me out.

Wooo Hopoo, I just bought a new buggy so I'm planning on walking the school run as much as poss now. The 2 litres of water a day are really helping with the hunger cravings I actually haven't felt hungry today at all and I've got a few calories left over - off to use them up now

Shopping trip sounds like a good motivation, you've got me thinking now....

Maybe I should get married that would be a good goal... At least I wouldn't need to advertise for bridesmaids and ringbearers LOL!
