I have gone from 14 and a half stone - which I weighed a couple of weeks after having DD, second baby - to 10 stone 10lbs, which means that I'm a healthy weight for the first time in around 8 years.
I made a conscious decision to cut down on portion size and fatty foods, but haven't followed any particular diet. In fact I've actively avoided diet groups and slimmimg magazines which have only ever served to depress me. The entire diet industry seems not only women-hating but generally unhelpful and even counterproductive.
I have read Fat is a Feminist Issue which I found fascinating and inspiring.I would recommend it to anyone whose overeating is a long term problem.
Apart from that, just wanted to share!! I am really proud of myself for doing what I never thought i could. But I still resent the way that women are made to feel that happiness is only achievable through slimness. It's a myth. I am still plagued by worry, stress, bills, family probs. I still feel pressure to be more attractive. I hope that I've lost weight for myself, on my own terms. Just wanted to let others know that weight loss is possible without resorting to subsidising the diet industry.
