I want to lose 2 stone by Xmas - Can I do it?

I am currently 10st 7 and would like to be 8st 7 by xmas. I am 5ft 3 so that would be a good weight for me. I actually went from 13st 11 to 9 st 9 last year then put nearly a stone on after my wedding. I am going to Australia for a holiday on 2nd Jan so would love to be trim and slim by then. Can I do this? And would anyone like to join me?

Well if you've done it once you can do it again, but can you get it off and keep it off?

(and when you've found the answer please let me know )

I'd like to join you. I want to lose a stone and half. Which would actually get me down to your weight (and I'm your height). Currently 12 stone!!!!!! I was 10stone 7lbs before dd and felt good then.

How did you do it last time?

I staretd Slimming World 2 weeks ago. Had my first weigh in last week and put on a pound! Tommorrow is the second weigh in and I have a horrible feeling I haven't lost anything but I've stuck to it really well.

OOOh me too I am currently 10 st 2lbs although on my scales this seems to fluctuate between this and 10st 5lbs! I am 5'2" and am thinking I would too like to be around the 8 and a half stone mark as I was before 7s 5lbs before I had dd four years ago

How on earth will we do it? have tried weightwatchers but don't think I put enough effort into last time

Just booked a hol for next June too so that should be a good incentive for me

I have been kidding myself that it's not that bad but just looked at some photos from a night out the other week and I looked shocking!!

I'm five foot 2 as well, and 9.4lbs and I cant't go under 8.10 no matter HOW hard I try. I could be running miles, eating really sensibly.....

so, maybe aim for 9?! See how achievable that is first?

I know if I really really try, I can lose 8lbs but weirdly never more.

Actually, can I join in?! I'd like to lose 8lbs. I'd be happy with that. SO happy with that. It makes a big difference at my height. If I really make the effort, it happens, but getting myself to really make the effort is............... well, I need a kick up the bum and a chase around the table.

Report
AitchTwoOh · 27/07/2009 20:40

lol, did you? i'm pretty lardy at the moment, but i tend to go back down. it's my bfing hell, i am all skinny post-birth and then i get the RAGING bfing hunger but am shit at bfing so too many cals in, not enough out. same thing happened with dd1. weird, innit?

TutTutter · 27/07/2009 20:40

i was definitely not a skinnymalink

i was a size 14 and am now a 10. started at 11st 4lbs and am exactly two stones less than that now

i was UBER strict re food and drink for three monhts. and i started running [forrest]

am still running - a lot in fact - but am no longer dieting

am happy to share Tutter's Top Tips if you like

OK, can I join in? Don't need to lose 2stone but a stone would be ace.

Am 5ft 7, 11st 4. Within shouting distance of 10st would make me v happy. Am supposed to be doing a 10k run in the early Autumn (did Race for Life in June)so this should help with weight loss - if I ever get going with training that is!

I SERIOUSLY need to lose 2.5 st. by Xmas.

I'm now in a size 16.

Of course, instead of slimming I'm sitting here eating a sandwich made with Loch Fyne's absolutely delicious sliced smoked salmon on a bit of rye bread with horseradish sauce and cucumber slices.

i like food too much.

going to do more regular exercise once the girls go back, though, because the leisure centre has low-cost aqua aerobics classes and a creche.

and if we get the flat i'll have to walk A LOT more.

Oh and then Xmas! I swapped this gal Struan's baby bath seat for her copy of Nigella's Xmas. Mmmm, I'll be baking and cooking and tasting.

I've asked my sis for a pasta maker with lasagne, ravioli and tagliatelle blades for Xmas, too.

it wasn't so extreme, expat. i ate meals and kept my metabolism going, so it wasn't like a meal replacemnet diet or anything

ok, here goes. i didn't follow a diet and i didn't calorie count as such. BUT i am pretty good at knowing good food from bad, rules re GI etc etc - so started with a pretty good understanding of What To Do

  1. big breakfasts. every day i had (and still have) a big bowl of muesli with half a chopped banana, a slice of toast and marmite (with a scraping of low fat spread) and a mug of tea

  1. smaller portions for lunch and dinner. i chose healthy options, so nothing obviosuly high fat or high GI. lots of smoked fish and salad. stir fries. innocent veg pots when they were on offer

  1. no booze mon-thurs. in fact i have pretty much cut it out except for socialising

  1. no puds. immediately made coffee/tea after a meal to distract me from puddingy thoughts

  1. EXERCISE. for me this was running plus a weekly strength class (body pump type thing) but i think this could be anything that helps burn calories and increase your metabolism. min 30 mins 3 x a week

  1. prepared fruit/veg for snacking. i now snack on nuts but didn't when i was dieting because they're quite calorific

[dullarse] happy to answer questions

Time's almost up, sassy. Here's hoping we get offered this place soonish, as it needs some work.
