It is getting bad again - well was always bad but its getting really rediculas.

Yesterday I ate -

bowl of alepn with raisins

cheese and pickle sandwich
ripple bar
strawberry yoghurt
mini caramel shortcake
smoothie

2 bowls of icecream with 2flakes
2 chocolate desert tubs

twix
flake
slice of bread with butter

3 bowls icecream with flake
5 packets crisps

The spaces show how the day was broken up. I start off ok in the morning, lunch I ususally dont have the choc I had today. Then it all went wrong, and once its started going wrong I can not claw it back i think fuck it - todays ruined now might as well eat it all!

did you fel sick after all the icecream?
the trick is not to have it in the house

will look for the trhead thanks.

no didnt feel sick at time, do now, always do the morning after a binge.

i used to be annorexic years ago - then bulimic and now this.

i dont have it in the house, but once i get that desire to binge i will find food whether that means going out/ordering/making lots of toast. its the same as when i was bulimic once i got that urge to vomit that was it - nothing could stop it.

Hi just cant stop - I have ishoos with binge eating too

I am also over there (as it were) on tother thread but tbh I am already finding it a bit difficult as lots of the people there are very lovely but they dont have a binge eating problem as such (and many only need to loose a stone) - several are my height and wiegh my target weight - which I am not finding helpful

For me - I want to stop binge eating - loosing weight would be a by product of that

I would like to join you on this thread instead if I may?

I have jsut started calorie counting using this site

3 slices of bread with quorn, mayo&cucumber

Justcantstop, whilst writing it down here is good have you thought about doing a food diary and writing down how you feel when you eat and why you have eaten what you have
i.e. 2 bowls of ice-cream - the cat was sick on the carpet and my LO wouldn't stop screaming.

this should help you identify trigger points. Also having a bigger breakfast might help adding a yogurt maybe for some protein.

Good luck

Had a good day yesterday too. (Good for me)

Breakfast - 2slices toast butter&jam. Banana

Lunch - 4 slices bread with tuna mayo and sweetcorn

1/2 packet popcorn
1 bowl icecream

12 inch salad and cheese subway

1/2 packet popcorn.

I stopped at 1 icecream, and instead of the subway I was going to buy burger king - when I buy that I usually buy at least 3 burgers/chicken burgers and chips. So I figured a big subway was better than that.

In the evening I wnated more icecream, but wasnt hungry I had my shoes on, money in my hand and was about to go and buy it and suddenly flung my shoes off and ran for a shower. It seemed to work.

These are the best few days I have had in a long time. Usually I buy binge food every day. Thanks for the support.

Planning ahead will help. Plan your lunch and dinner make them nice meals. Write it down in a food journal. Plan a pudding after dinner too. Take control. I also have ishoos and while it doesnt work every day it helps an awful lot. Once you have had one good day another good one will follow so that eventually a binge day is not the norm but a blip. Are you alone in the day a lot? I find that really doesnt help.

it looks like you have a lot of carbohydrate and not much protein. I think carbs really fuel the binge urge.

Is the bread white or wholemeal ? If it is white then it will add to the sugar highs (as will the icecream). It gets metabolised quickly and then leaves you feeling hungry and wanting more sugar.

Try eating more protein based meals more often - so 6 small meals. - so something mid morning - maybe some nuts and a piece of fruit, or a slice of cheese. And something mid afternoon too.

Sounds like icecream is one of your problems too - maybe because it is so easy to eat - it doesn't make you feel full. Maybe if you have icecream try and team it with some fruit to bulk it out a bit.

throckenholt - to be honest its not always icecream I go through phases it can be ANYTHING - a whole jar of choc spread/take aways etc any food really. Anything instant.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. Yes I do eat a lot of carbs, will try to increase protien. Bread can be either white/wholemeal just depends what I have that week.

Today so far -

bowl of alpen with raisins

banana, fresh orange juice

beans on toast (2 slices bread) and a yorkie choc bar.

Also did 30 mins of cardio at gym, sometimes that helps my mood so helps me not to binge.

BED (binge eating disorder) is a psychological ailment and not a physical one although I do agree that carb-laden foods can often make you crave more.

Have you explored options with a psychologist to try and find out why you're bingeing and/or what is triggering you punishing your body like this?

I had a lot of therapy and it was discovered that I "eat my anger" - now when someone pisses me off I let them have it both barrels... rather than punishing myself. In conjunction with battling this I taught myself a lot about nutrition and exercise and learned to love my body. Whilst exercise can be a real carrot/stick issue for many people - exercise will make you feel better about your own body and lead to increased confidence and you will want to feed it better.

Looking at your food diaries - I don't think you're actually eating "that" much - you're just making crappy choices - a junkfood diet rather than one which is nutritionally sound.

I just wanted to add that having looked at your menu for wednesday it's quite shocking in how high your carb load is. Have you been tested for pre-diabetes? It's just that everything you ate on that day has a very high GI which means your blood sugars will be swinging from one extreme to the other affecting your mood as well as your feelings of hunger and what you think you need to sate your appetite.

Have a look at a low-GI programme to see if that might be something for you to look at to try and re-regulate your blood sugars.

justcantstop - Have you ever read a book called stop binging by Lee Janogly? It is a good book which was given to me by someone when I was really struggling with binge eating in the past. I would really recommend getting hold of a copy.
