Hi jennybensmummy. I'm 7 weeks into a healthy eating and exercise campaign - afraid I refuse to say I'm "on a diet" as it has too many negative connotations IMO. I have a medium term goal of losing 3 stone before end July this year, when my DNiece is getting married. I've lost 1.5 stone so far Long term, I should probably lose a further 4 stone after that. I'm also not into the slimming industry's schemes (SW, WW etc) but am happy to offer/receive support and motivation here.

BTW I have found that by concentrating on generally looking after myself, taking the attitude that this is a good thing that I deserve to do, it's no where near as hard as thinking I have to do it because I need to lose weight. It seems much more positive to think I'm worth making this effort for and that I should be allowed to have the healthier options if I want them - I find that I then DO actually want to eat well and exercise and see that in itself as a treat rather than a "punishment".

Hello I need to lose 5.5 stone, so yes, I'd like to lose loads of weight with you. I put on five stone when pg (despite desperate efforts not to put so much on this time round) and before I was pg I was on a diet trying to lose 2.5 stone! So I have lost 2 stone thus far but the weekend just gone was bad and set me back a bit. I HATE being this fat as I have a tiny frame which is swamped by huge amounts of fat . It can be done, I lost 8 stone after my first pregnancy, but put on 3 stone as I hated my job and it made me miserable. I want to make sure I eat healthily and maintain my weight loss as I have a dd now and don't want to be obsessed with dieting anymore. Don't want her to have a negative body image, it's so dangerous!

Hi marthasmama - you have done well in the past, well done!! My weight has gradually gone up over the last few years and this is the heaviest I've been. Apart from losing the odd few pounds I've never really been successful at dieting which is really bad for my motivation.

Well, I didn't start dieting until I'd stopped breastfeeding but lost 2 stone without trying. There was no science to it, I just ate very little and did some exercise. But it went back on as I couldn't maintain that. Then saw a nutritionist who told me to avoid wheat and dairy as I am intolerant. I tried that and hey presto, the weight fell off. I ate lots of vegetables, fish, houmous and oatcakes. I also had takeaway at the weekend, just not a huge one! The weight stayed off until I started eating wheat again (I love bread ). For me the hardest part of dieting is getting started. I'm always so hungry and seem to need carbs to feel full. I'm bfing at the mo but dd will start weaning soon so will be relying on me less for her grub. Which hopefully mean I'm less hungry, but probably not! I was doing well until the weekend when I sent dh for chips mmmmmm!

I'm currently doing WW but I have 8 stone I want to loose too, so if you'd like I'd quite like to loose weight with you!
I've found the new WW plan to be more about common sense than an actual diet, as I am finding myself bulking out meals with a bowl of steamed veg which I wouldn't have done before... so I reckon we could still support each other with eating habits!

I am also thinking of biting the bullet and taking my flabby bum swimming which will hopefully help!
