Is anyone really struggling on Slimming World despite religiously following the plan?(36 Posts)
I am vegetarian and can only do Green. I have been good, hardly ever go over my syns, or even close to the 15. Only have one Healthy Extra a and b. Have even drastically cut down on free foods that are stodgy like pasta, potatoes, etc and gone to pulses instead. Still only lost 4lbs (which was what I put on over Christmas anyway) since end Jan?
Anyone else struggling. Perhaps it only works for some people. I must say that now that I have given up the obviously fattening things - my diet is not that much different from pre-slimming world.
I don't want to replace the existing SW thread on here - only to hear from people who are truly following the plan but not losing weight.
you are not truely following the plan
you need 2 HE b's and previous threads here have shown that if you are just a teeny bit out with the plan the science of the plan stops working.
I know because you are now eating less you should be losing weight, but SW doesn't work like that.
Also just post a couple of typical days eating to see if anyone else can pinpoint anything.
So you are saying I am not eating enough? The past few days I even went back to eating pasta and couscous just in case - and guess what I actually put on a pound!

keep an honest food diary for your consultant and try to eat foods with the s symbol by them as they speed up the loss. You must have all your HE's though you need these for your health, maybe your body is shutting down as it thinks you are starving it.

I have the same problem. I'm following SW religiously, but losing weight so slowly it's painful. I've lost 7lbs since Christmas, but haven't lost anything at all now for three weeks. I shouldn't be plateauing so soon - I have three stone to lose! Getting really disheartened.
I have just started SW and was hopeing to lose at least two pounds in the first week...I have 6 stones to lose and my diet has drasticly changed...I am following the extra easy plan and have lost nothing in my first week...My typical day on SW looks a little like this:
Brakfast: small brown toast with no spread (HE), 1 boiled egg and 1 spook of baked beans
Lunch: cous cous with prawns/ chicken and salad
Evening meal: Rice with lentils and salad (no fat used) with o% Greek Yoghurt
Snacks: 1 apple, 2 satsumas, 1 cadburys light mouse (3 syns), Nature valley trial pack cereal bar (5.5syns)
This is typical of my day on SW...what am I doing wrong?
You may ne not eatingenough,what does your consultanat say?I am just going back to SW ,I do think it works but it helps if you eat losts of the SS foods .Maybe up the protein and cut the carbs a little
smq not all diets work for all people, we are all different. If you have 6 stone to loose, you really should have lost at least 2 lbs in the first week.
Discuss with your consultant. Hard to comment on whether you are eating too much as you haven't given quantities. In the first week of a diet would be hard to eat too little to loose, although that could happen later on if you consistently ate too little and your metabolism slowed down.
To the op, I have the same problem with SW. It is too much like what I normally eat. I tried it with dh for a week - he lost 10lbs, I put on 1lb. As far as I'm aware, we ate similarly!! He is very overweight, but even so. I agree - not all diets work for everybody. How much do you need to lose?
I would say that if I ate that sort of stuff I would not lose weight - too many carbs for me - the others are right not all diets work for everyone....
pinky I thought the same about the carbs (ie I wouldn't loose, would probably gain with that) but it would depend on the quantities I guess - also should be different in the first week of a diet when the OP had 6 stone to go (ie hard not to loose).
I have just given up on SW. 6 weeks in and I was heavier than when I started!! I just don't get on well with unlimited food-no matter how healthy it is. I was eating loads of free food, having huge portions and I just gained when theoretically I should have been losing. I've now registered with MyFitnessPal and have lost 5lbs in a week just sticking to 1200 cals a day. I agree with forever, not all diets suit everyone.
Thank goodness its not just me!! I lost painfully slowly for the first 6 weeks, i.e 1lb week or less, and then nothing since. Should be weighing in tonight but think I have gained this week and don't want to be told that. I give up!!
I was very interested in this because I have just started slimming world and am also following plan religiously. I lost 2lb the first week and I expected lots more. I will give it another few weeks, but am seriously considering switching to weight watchers.
I'm so relieved to read this thread even though it's quite old. I joined SW last week, stuck to the plan and upped my exercise and managed to gain nearly 2 lbs. The consultant checked my food diary (I'd been honest) and said it was fine. She suggested the gain was from the previous week but I don't get that. I'm going to see what happens this week (I want to lose 3 stones) but will leave if I don't get a result. I can't really believe that eating more than I normally would (and much the same foods) will make me slimmer in the long term.
I just started a week ago and thought I would try the vegetarian sw I followed the 7 day plan exactly and have lost nothing, so frustrated now
I've just finished my first week and I lost 3lbs which I was really happy with as I've been eating loads (all on plan) and only went off the rails on Saturday night (alcohol and SW aren't a good match!).
I think you have to think of it not just as in pounds, but as in proportion to your starting weight/height. I'm 5'4 and now 9 stone 10, so I'm not going to be upset if next week someone twice my size loses 1/2 stone and I don't - a 7lb loss at my size would be pretty drastic which isn't really what SW is about.
Hi I am also 5ft 4 but weigh 11.3 I was quite surprised stood on scales this morning and lost 2 lbs yipeee lol so it may take time

I joined SW last Friday have stuck to the diet exactly except had a few less syns, have gained four pounds in 5 days!!!
I weigh 10st 8 now, I'm 5ft 6, I'm a serial dieter but was hoping to get some normality back in my life with this diet, is this normal or should I just give up as maybe it doesn't suit me??
And help greatly appreciated 😩
I am glad it's not just me. I have rejoined As. And have 3 at to loose. I was hesitant to rejoin as it's all extra easy and previously have never been able to follow green and loose so 4 weeks on and have lost just 3 pounds. I even swapped to SP plan and it hasn't improved. I think the new SW is just not for me going to give it a few more weeks and going to try Rosmary Conley as WW drives me nuts!!!
Omg I'm so glad I read this post im the same had about 2 & 1/2 stone to loose joined SW in May stuck to plan and only lost 2ibs in first week and then for next 8 weeks lost 1ib every week and whilst I wanted to loose more I was happy that I lost I then went 3 weeks and stayed the same then put 1/2 a pound on then lost it the next week (all these weeks I stuck to plan rigidly) then I didn't go for 3 weeks and put 1 & 1/2 pounds on and am struggling since my consultant told me to start writing everything down again which I have done and I have increased my exercise and still not losing just staying the same it's really disheartening when everyone in my group is losing really thinking of giving up but I'm really glad it's not just me having trouble. I even encouraged my mum to join and she has lost nearly a stone in 4 weeks. Any ideas guys?
