SWIPER'S WEIGHTLOSS DIARY!!

Ok. I am going totally public in order to make myself actually do this and stop being pathetic!! I've set my goal date as 29th July which is my 28th birthday and we are going out over that weekend - I want to be going out in my old clothes- not squeezed ridiculously into a pair of 14's with a huge bulge over the top!!! Being overweight is making me miserable and it's time to do something about it once and for all!!

I'm going to get up before anyone else and go walking/jogging and follow the Atkins diet strictly for the next 2 weeks. Also going to try and achieve the 10,000 steps a day.

My Current Weight: 13st 8lbs
My goal weight: 10st 7lbs
Time to do it: 16 weeks

Day 1 : This morning I got up at 7 and went straight out for a fast walk. Within 5 mins I came across my 1st problem. Asthma. I'm currently being assessed for a new inhaler and forgot all about it!! Kept going though. I walked at a fast pace for 45 mins. My pedomoeter (which i think isn't too good) measured; 4086 steps, 2.7km. It's difficult as our village is only just over a mile long so generally walking round in circles!!
When i got in i had 2 sausages and mushrooms, fried, and on a small bed of mixed salad and cheese. Didn't like it! I'm not a breakfast fan but i have to organise my eating habits.
So all in all off to a good start - let's hope i can keep it up!!!

Good luck Swiperfox. Make sure you have a 'before' pic of yourself, so when you achieve your goal weight you can send your success story to a slimming magazine!

Been out this morning and found myself a good walking route. At the back of our village there's nothing but miles of country lanes, fields and farms

Up at 7, walked for just under an hour.
6340 steps - 4.19km

My shins are really sore!!!

Peppered mackrel for breakfast when i got back (although dd and ds stole most of it!!)

Good luck SF. I'm about to embark on a diet as I'm finally fed up with being overweight. I'd actually been enjoying eating what I like and doing no exercise after years of swimming and lifeguard training, and just thought "what the hell, I'm happy". But the other day I noticed my waist had gone ie filled out, and I'm so incredibly unfit that I can only swim a couple of lengths before I'm out of breath. I used to do half a mile warm up! I'm no longer happy as I am so that's it, back to healthy eating and exercise.

Thanks guys - I'm just hoping i can stick it out. It's only been two days and the cravings (sugar/carbs) are setting in already as is a bad stomach!!

I keep saying to myself that it's only 2 weeks and if i dont do it the time will fly by and in 2 weeks time i'll be wishing i'd done it.

I have to keep motivating myself to get up early as well for the walking. I'm sooo not a morning person lol doesn't help either when the alarm goes off and dp is lying next to me saying "Walkies!"

Dinner tonight was yummy though. Homemade burgers on a bed of salad covered in lemon juice then grated cheese over the burgers. I like that one! Am starving though for something sweet.

Surfermum - you sound like me! I used to cycle. I actually used to be a cycle courier doing around 200-300 miles per week. Now it kills me to run up the stairs - its so depressing, so enough is enough!!

This morning was hard!! I am having severe biscuit cravings!!! The walk was really hard as well - I guess my body is running out of 'fuel' as i'm not feeding it and carbs or sugar at all. On top of the my bloody pedometer has proven itself to be useless!
I walked further today than i did yesterday and it's showing 5330 thats 1000 less than yesterday!! So thats a bit disheartening.
Came back and had peppered mackerel again but now feel quite sick.
I'm not sure if i will be able to keep the strict atkins up!!!

SF keep it up, not that I am personally a fan of Atkins, for the very reason you are finding it so hard. However if it suits you go for it

IT IS ONLY 12 DAYS FROM NOW

I had to have some cereal. I was on the verge of throwing up

Have posted on your thread about calorie counting

Feeling good this morning
I bought some applae juice yesterday. As soon as i ate the cereal the sickness went away and i was back on form. I totally messed up the atkins - but i was up and ready for this morning's walk and i could have carried on for a few more miles!! Amazing difference. So now i need to find a good calorie controlled diet - I dont know where to look though!!

I also counted my own steps this morning - I did 7785 which converts to 5.15km
I also wore the pedometer and it only registered 6125 steps!!

At least now i know my route is 5km so thats good Takes me 1 hour to walk that.

Well done SF It is not difficult to do a calorie counted plan, as you decide the calories and then work to it. You can still buy a book called the 'Greatest Guide to calories' and that should help for everything. by doing ready prepared meals, they are already counted, so I am not worrying about working things out

couldn't go out this morning as i got a 'I've got to be gone by 8.30 tomorrow' from dp when he got in - so i guess that really meant 'you cant go because i'm too lazy to get up earlier to sort the kids out before work'
Has put me in a bad mood and I'm sitting here itching to be outside!!! Mind you one day off won't kill me and might give the blisters a chance to calm down a bit!!
Spoke to my Mum about it last night and she said that when she was doing the race for life she was doing 5km in 40mins!! So now I have to aim for that

Food-wise i think i'm doing kind of ok. Yesterday I had cereal for breakfast - had a little tiny pizza for lunch(not good!) then at night i had chicken breast with an olive roll, salad and houmous. Am trying my best to eat by 5/6pm then have nothing from then on. Not easy!!!!

Oh well done swiperfox! I'm still in the contemplative stage. I've managed to do some exercise in the form of an hour's tap dancing, but I got a kebab and chips on the way home! And I'm not picking up the phone to Slimming World until all the chocolate in the house is gone.

Had 2 weetabix for brekkie but had to put a lil bit of sugar on !!

2 weetabix is a good choice, sugar is about 20 cals a tsp (level) so together thats only 149 cals, plus milk. Less than you have just burnt off

Thats good news!! Is it true that you should eat it within 20 mins of exercising so that your body is still burning it up while you eat?

Morning! Had a bad weekend for food I'm actually finding it difficult to eat properly. I went into town and forgot to get a calorie counting book which doesn't help!! I've managed to discover that i should be having 1858 calories a day but as yet have no idea what that amounts to in food!!

Been out walking still and still loving it - apart from the feet agony!! I'm tempted to write to adidas and tell them they've made the worst trainers ever!!

Went out in the car yesterday to measure the exact distance of my route - turned out to be 4.1 miles which is 6.5kilometers so feeling quite pleased about that!!!

Have forgotten to weigh myself the last few days - mostly because last week i was all over the place from 13st3 up to 13st7 so i'm going to give the walking another week to kick in then weigh on saturday
